According to preliminary information, around 6am on February 2, residents of Group 15, Bo Xuyen ward discovered that the house on Tran Khanh Du Street was on fire, and immediately shouted to the local authorities.

When the house was found on fire, the woman and her 2 children tried to get out but could not. She called her husband. The husband called his friend and his brother ran to hit the door with his car but couldn't break it.

The Fire Protection and Rescue Police, Thai Binh Provincial Police and residents then broke down the door, put on smoke masks and rescued 3 mothers and children out and took them to the emergency room at 6:20 am.

According to information from Lao Dong newspaper, Thai Binh General Hospital, a representative of this unit confirmed to reporters that this morning received the case of 3 mothers and children coming to the emergency room with burns caused by fire.

The mother was identified as Ms. L.T.D (born in 1988, residing at No. 52, Lane 90, Tran Khanh Du Street, Group 15, Bo Xuyen Ward, Thai Binh City). Two young children are grandchildren N.H.M (born in 2011) and N.P.L (born in 2013).

The mother was mildly ill and was kept in hospital for treatment, but was in a state of panic after the incident. The two children suffered severe burns and were rushed to the National Burn Institute.

The house where the fire occurred is located deep in the alley of 90 Tran Khanh Du Street. This is a 3-storey house, outside the balconies of the 2nd and 3rd floors are fenced with intertwined steel frames. Outside the house is a layer of rolling doors, inside is a layer of tempered glass doors. At the scene after the fire, glass and rolling doors were demolished to save people in distress.

At just after 7 a.m., police were at the house to inspect the scene and gather information to determine the cause of the fire. According to preliminary assessments, the cause of the fire was most likely an electrical short.
