The fire occurred late at night in a house located in an alley in Da Nang, killing two children. Accordingly, neighbors who witnessed the horrifying scene could not help but choke.
On the morning of October 11, authorities were examining the scene of a fire that left two people unable to survive in Da Nang.
Initial information, at 1:30 a.m. on the same day, a house fire broke out in an alley on Tran Cao Van street (Tam Thuan ward, Thanh Khe district).
At around 3:00 a.m. this morning, October 11, the authorities extinguished the fire; brought 3 people out of the fire, including Mr. LTÄ. (35 years old), LTKN (36 years old), and TLGK (9 years old) went out.
However, there are 2 children in the house: NLTT (12 years old) and TMGÄ. (14 years old) trapped on the upper floor, died from smoke inhalation.
Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc A. (59 years old, a resident living near the burned house) said that around 1:00 a.m. the same day, he was sleeping at home when he heard a loud noise. At this time, he looked outside and saw a "flash" so he ran out to see and saw the neighbor's house on fire on the 3rd floor.
Ward police and fire trucks also arrived at the scene immediately. However, the gate of the house was locked, it was impossible to get inside, so people found a way to break the lock. Then, a firefighter used a 12m ladder to climb inside the house.
The fire at that time was very large, accompanied by many explosions and billowing smoke. Someone brought a fire extinguisher to put out the fire but "suffered" because they couldn't reach it.
"When I ran there, the police were already present. However, the gate was locked so no one could open it. Using a sledgehammer to break the lock was also not possible. The fire was very big at that time, accompanied by many explosions. The whole neighborhood came but helpless," Mr. A. recalled.
Also according to Mr. A., during the chaos, people living next to the burning house quickly called each other to run away for fear of the fire spreading to their house.
At this time, a red fire engulfed the entire house. When they learned that there were two people trapped on the third floor, the fire department tried every possible rescue approach but could not.
The police and people had to use crowbars and hammers to break the edge of the gate to reach the main door of the house and save people.
"At this time, two children were stuck on the third floor. They used a ladder to reach them, but the fire was too big and the toxic smoke was thick. By the time they could reach them, the two children could not survive," Mr. A. shared.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Da Nang Police sent 5 vehicles and 35 officers and soldiers to the scene to participate in firefighting and searching for victims.
It is known that the first floor of the house has 2 escape routes, 1 exit from the main front door and 1 back door on the side of the house, all floors have balconies.
At the time of the fire, people used fire extinguishers to handle the fire, but the fire was so large that it could not be extinguished.
Feeling sad as he watched his neighbor's house burn down, Mr. Nguyen Thanh C. (65 years old, residing at 236 Tran Cao Van) said that while he was sleeping, he heard an explosion so he ran out to the street to see. At this time, black smoke covered the entire alley. Everyone rushed out, trying to reach the victim's house to rescue them, but it was very dangerous because of the large fire, toxic smoke, and electrical wires that burned like fireworks and fell onto the road.
"About more than 5 minutes after reporting the news, the fire department arrived. Until now, people in this village have never seen such a big fire," Mr. C. choked up.
According to neighbors, the victim's family just moved in about a year ago. On the first floor of the 3-story house, there is a spa business and some similar services.
