According to information from Tien Phong, on May 10, the People's Court of Nghe An province issued a final verdict against Dao Thi Mong Thuong (46 years old, residing in Lai Vung district, Dong Thap province) on the charge of "Fraudulent appropriation of property". ".

According to the indictment, in 2019, Thuong created a Facebook named Dao Ngoc Minh, introducing himself as an overseas Vietnamese in Canada to approach and get to know Mr. NVH (from Nghe An) through a group about Buddhism. Often posts pictures showing herself as a young, beautiful, rich girl. At this time, Mr. H. was separating from his wife, so when a beautiful, rich girl texted to get to know him, proving to be a good listener and understanding person, he agreed to be friends.

Ngoc Minh told Mr. H., his father is Nguyen Gia Nam, an overseas Vietnamese in Canada, his mother is Nguyen Kim Phung, originally from Hong Kong, owner of a large transportation company in Canada. In fact, this is Thuong's husband and biological mother. After a long time of confiding, Mr. H. developed feelings for Ngoc Minh.

During the period from September 19, 2019 to April 27, 2022, by creating many different situations such as needing money for business, paperwork, land investment..., Mong Thuong in the role of Ngoc Minh has Mr. H. transferred a total of more than 12.2 billion VND.

To help Mr. H. trust him, he often spent more than 400 million VND to buy gifts and transferred more than 2.5 billion VND for this person to invest in business when needed.

During their acquaintance, Mr. H. repeatedly asked to meet Ngoc Minh but always received excuses to avoid and avoid him. Ngoc Minh also never shows his face when calling.

According to Labor Newspaper, after many times Ms. Thuong refused to meet Mr. H as he requested, on February 27, 2022, Thuong arranged for Mr. Suspicious, so Mr. H called Thuong's Zalo (created under the name Ngoc Minh, a hot girl who had confided in him for a long time), and the phone rang on Zalo. It turned out that this "foster sister" U50 was Thuong At this time, Mr. H realized that he had been tricked by Thuong pretending to be a beautiful girl.

After contacting Thuong many times, asking Thuong to return the money but to no avail, Mr. H. went to the police to denounce this woman's crime. On August 30, 2023, Dao Thi Mong Thuong was arrested by Nghe An Police.

Authorities determined that Dao Thi Mong Thuong used deceitful tricks to defraud Mr. H. of more than 12 billion VND of money. Usually 6 billion VND is used to buy diamonds, gold, gems, and entertainment. In addition, he often lent his brother 4 billion VND, using more than 2.7 billion VND for travel and personal expenses. Thuong returned nearly 3 billion VND to Mr. H. Thuong's brother returned 4 billion VND, so Mr. H asked Thuong to pay more than 5 billion VND in compensation.

At the trial, Dao Thi Mong Thuong did not admit to the accusation of defrauding her of property, but said that this money was a "voluntary expense" given by Mr. H. on her own initiative. According to the defendant, Mr. H. and the defendant knew each other, met many times, and traveled together, not that they did not know each other as the victim claimed.

Often giving evidence are the messages Mr. H. sent during money transfer transactions with the content "give, give to Ngoc Minh, give to Mong Thuong, give to my beloved wife, give gifts..." to prove Mr. H.'s transfer of money was voluntary. However, the authorities have proven that these money transfer contents were recorded by Mr. H. at Thuong's request. This is Thuong's trick to defraud Mr. H of his money.

Comprehensively reviewing the case, the Trial Council sentenced Dao Thi Mong Thuong to life imprisonment.
