The case of a 21-year-old man named Fat Cat who died after being told goodbye by his girlfriend is gaining public attention and monitoring. Many young Vietnamese have learned their lessons.
Staying up all night watching the incident, T.T.M.Duyen (Thuong Tin district, Hanoi) felt very sorry and heartbroken for Fat Cat. "As far as I can see, people who easily have unconditional love are often ungrateful. In the end, when a boyfriend dies, there is still a reproach and a sober explanation. I told myself that in the future, I will give a lot of love and education so that they do not feel deprived of affection, not to send themselves into any romantic relationship," Duyen said.
Contrary to this, H.T.Lan (Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi) thinks that the cause of this incident is entirely the fault of Fat Cat. From your point of view, inherently loving and providing money for your lover is entirely voluntary and no one forces it.
In addition to the controversy over the actions of the Fat Cat, many people feel curious and wonder: can a 21-year-old person, who plays rented games every day, be able to accumulate a large amount of money? Apparently game makers have banned play for hire, so why is it still so hot?
Rental gaming industry in China
The continued popularity of games such as "Regal Glory", "Quintessential Peace", "Primordial God" and others has fueled a large potential consumer market, and the rental gaming industry has also been born, with significant revenues.
Take the Taobao platform, for example. When searching for the keyword "play rental", there are up to 100 pages of results, with more than 4,000 stores offering play rental services, priced between 5 and 100 yuan. Under the search bar, Taobao also offers officially recommended rental play platforms. Some of these platforms have monthly sales ranging from 9,268 orders per month up to 146,045 orders. If calculated according to the price per order of 5 yuan, the lowest revenue per month of a store can also reach 46,340 yuan (equivalent to 163 million VND), showing the impressive revenue of the rental gaming industry.
In fact, even streamers with millions of followers are closely related to rented gaming. The TikTok streamer named Achi has been part of the behind-the-scenes team for several popular streamers. He told Sina Technology: "Almost all major streamers have support teams they play for hire. The streamer is the front, bringing emotional value to the audience during the live stream, and the team is the back, continuing to push the point when not broadcasting to raise the level."
The "shady" relationship between manufacturers and hired game players
In China, almost all game makers openly ban rented gaming and even impose strict sanctions such as account bans. But this still cannot stop the strong development of the rental gaming industry.
Whether it's on Taobao, Xianyu, or platforms like Douyin, Kuaishou, you can almost always find traces of rented gaming services. In the context of prohibition by manufacturers but the industry still flourishing, what is the relationship between the hired gaming industry and game makers really?
After the "Fat Cat" event, a member of the famous WE E-sport team in China, Strawberry, commented as follows: "Playing for hire is really a violation of regulations, but the current domestic gaming environment is like that. I dare say at least 90% of professional gamers have played for hire or played with. If 2 years can earn 500,000 yuan, anyone with skills will do it."
The statements spoke to the relationship between the hired gaming industry and game makers. The reality is that game makers can't completely stop rented gaming, partly because this demand comes from the players themselves. Although this demand is unhealthy, manufacturers cannot completely change the wishes of players. On the other hand, the popularity of the game itself is also inseparable from the constant "contribution" from rented play services. Without a rented play service, the game's activity level will also decrease, which producers are not expected to see.
Some rented game players also have no other choice. Tong Xin, who works in a rented gaming studio, revealed to Sina Technology that rented game players are divided into three levels, ranging from amateur players to capable "small dealers," and finally "premium agents," each of which earns different amounts. "The Fat Cat belongs to the upper class. At their peak, these people usually have a monthly income of over 10,000 yuan (35 million), higher than most game players rent."
