Recently, French police discovered a woman who had died in an apartment on the outskirts of Paris and determined that this was a missing Vietnamese citizen. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is supporting the family to carry out the necessary legal procedures.
At a regular press conference on the afternoon of June 6, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang informed that a Vietnamese citizen named N.B.N. (born in 1997) who is a student studying in France has lost contact with his family since January.
Citing information from the Vietnamese Embassy in France, Ms. Hang said that as soon as she received information about the disappearance of the N.B.N. citizen, the Embassy notified the French police to search for the citizen and coordinate with Vietnamese representative agencies in neighboring countries to closely follow up on this case.
"Recently, French police discovered a body in an apartment on the outskirts of Paris (France). After verifying the identity, the French authorities determined that this is an N.B.N. citizen," Ms. Pham Thu Hang informed.
After the above incident, the Vietnamese Embassy in France informed and supported the family to go to France and arranged to work with the authorities to carry out the necessary legal procedures.
Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in France will continue to coordinate with French authorities to clarify the case and soon bring Ms. N.'s ashes back to the country.
"On this occasion, we send our deepest condolences to the families of N.B.N. citizens for this extremely great loss," a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam expressed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expects Vietnamese citizens residing abroad to carry out citizenship registration procedures at Vietnamese representative missions abroad, in order to receive quick and timely support in emergency cases.
It is known that Ms. N.B.N came to study at Skema in September 2022, finishing her thesis in early July 2023. The family said that Ms. N. has been in Hagen (Germany) since the beginning of December 2023 and plans to work for the company in Hagen from mid-January 2024.
N. once told her family that she was renting a room in an apartment managed by a Senegalese woman in Amsterdam. However, due to the approaching visa period, N.'s family thinks that N. has returned to France.
On January 28, 2024, N.'s parents in Vietnam had a two-hour conversation with her and that was the last time they heard from their daughter.
The family sent information looking for Ms. N. and a request for help to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and went directly to Hagen, Germany, to find her child.
Representatives of Vietnamese diplomatic missions in France, Germany, and the Netherlands helped the family in finding relatives. Many Vietnamese people in Germany, France and European countries, Vietnamese associations in Europe have shared information about finding Ms. N. and many prayers for her and her family's well-being.
However, on May 22 on the FB of the Vietnamese Association in France, Ms. N.'s father, Mr. N.C.D., posted sad news about his son, along with which he added: "My family would like to thank the Vietnamese Ambassadors to France, the Netherlands and Germany. Thank you to the Vietnamese Associations for enthusiastically helping to find information about N.B.N.'s daughter, a 2nd year Master's student at SKEMA Business School".
"I have lived a life that I have always been proud of, I have studied all my life, honest, obedient, full of determination. Dad went to Europe to find and see off the last road and will take him back to his homeland of Vietnam. Goodbye to my beloved daughter," Ms. N.'s father emotionally shared on her personal Facebook on June 5.
