The Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) has just sent a document to health departments and production and business establishments responsible for bringing cosmetic products to the market regarding strengthening cosmetic management of sunscreen products.

Accordingly, the Drug Administration of Vietnam informed the health departments to urgently review the cosmetic product declaration forms with declared sunscreen features and uses that have been received, ensuring compliance with current regulations on cosmetic management; and withdraw the received declaration forms that do not meet the regulations.

The Department of Health directs functional units to inspect the labeling and advertising of sunscreen products in the area; directs testing centers to increase sampling of sunscreen cosmetics for testing and determining the SPF index; promptly report to the Drug Administration of Vietnam any violating sunscreen cosmetic samples for recall, destruction, handling and punishment according to regulations.

On the business side, cosmetic manufacturing and trading establishments must proactively review product records (Product Information File - PIF), especially the method and results of determining the SPF index, to ensure accuracy and transparency. In addition, the content on the label must be consistent with the declaration file and comply with ASEAN labeling guidelines.

Regarding the suspension of circulation of Doan Di Bang's husband's company's products, on May 20, the Dong Nai Department of Health sent a document to relevant units. Including affiliated units, Health Departments of districts and cities, business units, cosmetics users in the area and EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company (Giang Dien Industrial Park, Dong Nai province).

The Head of the Health Department of districts and cities is responsible for sending notices to wholesale and retail establishments, establishments using cosmetics in the management area, inspecting and supervising the units implementing the notices. Units must submit a report on the implementation results to the Department of Health - Professional Division before June 12 (including cases where the above products are not available or cannot be detected). Currently, both Doan Di Bang and Nguyen Quoc Vu have not responded to the inspection.

Previously, on May 16, the Drug Administration of Vietnam issued a document suspending the circulation and requesting a nationwide recall of the product Hanayuki Sunscreen Body (100g tube) brought to market by VB Group Trading and Service Company Limited.

The reason is that the tested product sample only had SPF 2.4, while the product label declared SPF 50, causing serious misunderstanding about its effectiveness. In addition, the declaration form issued by the Dong Nai Department of Health did not contain information about the SPF index, showing violations in labeling and declaring product features.
