Organizing karaoke in hospitals, people back on tiktok, director speaks out

Recently, on the anniversary of Vietnam Doctor's Day (27/2), Thap Muoi Regional General Hospital (Dong Thap) has set up a theater to organize parties, sing karaoke in the canteen. This image was filmed by people, posted on TikTok and caused a lot of controversy.

Soon after, leaders of the Dong Thap provincial health department said the agency received a report from Thap Muoi Regional General Hospital (Thap Muoi district) regarding a clip shared on social media showing the hospital holding a party with karaoke affecting patients who were being treated.

Accordingly, the social network TikTok appeared a clip filmed by a young man, recording a party with a theater, karaoke people and pictures of the emergency area of the hospital. "Thap Muoi District General Hospital, the patient is in the hospital, singing loudly," the youth says in the clip.

According to a report signed by Director of Muoi Tower General Hospital Huynh Ngoc Diep to the Department of Health, from 17h-19h on February 27, the hospital held a party at the canteen area, away from the patient treatment area.

According to the Director of Tower Muoi Regional General Hospital, this party was held safely, solemnly, economically, cozy and shared.

"Karaoke was organized at the party to create more excitement for officials after many years of not having fun parties due to the Covid-19 situation," the report stated.

According to the report, during the party, hospital officials took turns coming to the party and still ensured professional work at all positions.

The hospital also said that on February 27, the facility did not receive any comments or reflections from patients and relatives on security, order, spirit and attitude of service.

However, on the afternoon of March 2, hospital staff received a TikTok clip of the party accompanied by negative comments about the unit.

"Through the incident, the hospital would like to seriously learn from the experience of not letting a similar incident happen," the document signed by the hospital director stated.

The hospital has also sent a document to the Thap Muoi District Police requesting to consider supporting the TikTok account owner to remove the above clip, avoiding negative effects for the hospital.
