In 2022, in an interview with Lao Dong newspaper, a philanthropist who had helped Tinh That Bong Lai revealed what he had seen and heard. Accordingly, the man interviewed was To Van Thanh, residing in Ho Chi Minh City, specializing in manufacturing and trading in various types of rudimentary vehicles.

In 2019, Mr. Thanh accidentally read information about the incident where a group of people came to Tinh That Bong Lai to vandalize and cause trouble, so he went to visit and felt even more heartbroken when he saw that the "hermitage" was too poor, lacking everything, not even having a Buddha statue of the right size, and the place of worship was also makeshift.

Later, he met Le Tung Van and offered to rebuild Tinh That Bong Lai as a way of "offering". True to his word, the man later sold a small piece of land worth more than 500 million VND, using the mone.y to rebuild this place.

At that time, it was a daily occurrence for the man to go back and forth between Tinh That Bong Lai and Ho Chi Minh City. Sometimes he stayed there until 9-10 pm to worship Buddha, chant... Being present at Tinh That Bong Lai regularly for half a year helped Mr. Thanh see and hear many things.

At first, he realized that no one in Tinh That Bong Lai, including Le Tung Van, paid attention to practicing. Chanting sutras and burning incense were rare here. Even when Mr. Thanh invited 10 eminent monks from large temples near and far to chant, "grandfather's teacher" did not participate or come out to greet them.

Mr. Thanh has visited the kitchen of Bong Lai Monastery many times and was shocked to see that their food was "salty" and not "vegetarian" like other monasteries. In parallel, the activities and speech in Bong Lai Monastery were described as no different from the "mundane world".

Mr. Thanh suspected that there was something wrong with Tinh That Bong Lai, but he had no concrete evidence so he could not say anything. Later, he realized that the "young monks" here were not orphans as advertised.

One day, Le Tung Van asked Mr. Thanh to let the "5 young monks" who had participated in Comedy Challenge attend the inauguration event of a charity project he was implementing in Vinh Long province.
