According to CAND, Vo Quang Truc and Nguyen Cong Hau (SN 2000) were prosecuted and imprisoned for fraudulently appropriating property" and "Using false seals or documents of agencies or organizations"; Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan (SN 1974), Nguyen Thi Hiep (SN 1940) were prosecuted and imprisoned for fraudulent misappropriation of property"; Trinh Thi Chi (SN 1979) was prosecuted and imprisoned for "Consuming property committed by others".

In early November 2023, Mr. P.T.N living in Hanoi City was taken by Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan to Vo Quang Truc's rented house to buy a stone with metal destruction features. Upon entering Truc's house, Mr. N. was introduced by Truc as his mother and Tran Thi Hanh as his sister, but they were both fake. Here, Truc introduced to Mr. N. a black stone weighing 7 kg with iron destruction feature, which is a family heirloom treasure worth VND 306 billion.

Then Truc put the stone on top of the altar and took 01 piece of non-16 iron, about 25 cm long, and gave it to Mr. N. so that Mr. N. could place the iron bar next to the stone with his own hands. In 7 to 10 minutes, taking advantage of Mr. N.'s lack of attention, Truc swapped it by replacing the fake iron bar made of plaster that Truc had prepared earlier to place in the stone and then asked Mr. N. to go to the altar and take down the iron rod to inspect. Mr. N. examined it and found that the iron rod had lost weight and could be broken by hand.

At noon on December 24, 2023, Mr. N. and his wife Mrs. M. entered Ho Chi Minh City from Hanoi. HCM met with Truc to continue to raise the issue of buying the stone.

In the morning of December 25, 2023, Truc made an appointment to meet Mr. N. and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan at a café in Gia Canh commune, Dinh Quan district, Dong Nai province to agree that Truc would sell the stone to Mr. N. for VND 2.1 billion.

To build trust, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan made an agreement with Mr. N. to prepare an amount of more than VND 1.6 billion and Lan contributed an additional amount of more than VND 440 million to bring to Truc's house along Highway 20 to buy stones.

According to the PLO, after completing the sale, in the afternoon of December 25, Truc rented a car to take Mr. N. and his wife and the "gem" outside Hanoi accompanied by Tran Thi Hanh. When going to Tuy Phong district (Binh Thuan), Hanh took advantage of the stopped car and quickly escaped.

At this time, Mr. N and his wife learned that Truc was tricked into selling the black stone, so they asked the driver to turn the car back to Dong Nai to report.

To carry out the act, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan asked her biological son Nguyen Cong Hau to make 2 fake CCCD cards for accomplices. Truc and Lan rented a house in Binh Duong province, Ho Chi Minh City. HCM and Dong Nai, set up the drama, played the role of family members, introduced the elders and families who had meritorious contributions to the revolution.

After deceiving and misappropriating the amount of VND 2.1 billion from the victim, this group divided the above amount.

Currently, the case is being investigated and expanded by the police of Dong Nai province.
