Previously, Thich Minh Tue's walking process along the north and south attracted public attention. He said he was not a Buddhist monk, did not practice and was not an employee of any pagoda or monastery of the Vietnam Buddhist Church.

Over the years, he only listened to the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, and learned to cultivate his first virtue. This practice has 13 ascetics, of which the first virtue is one of the highest and most scripture of the Dharma. The first cultivator accepts difficulties in matters of eating, dressing, and staying (wearing patches, almsgiving, eating one meal a day, not accepting offerings, refusing all amenities, etc.).

Mr. Thich Minh Tue shared that he used to doubt the teachings of the Buddha, now he is more mature, so he wants to study and follow those teachings to see if he can be happy and peaceful. When he decided to leave home or quit his job to walk, he himself thought very carefully, then asked his parents for permission to leave.

Because of his determination to follow the first asceticism, in the process of walking he always picked up cloths discarded on the side of the road or in garbage cans and sewed them back into clothes, which someone deliberately threw for him would not accept. He ate only one meal a day. When on the road, if he meets someone with a heart or a charm to send vegetarian rice or water, he uses just enough. Through rivers and streams he stopped to bathe.

In the evenings, he often rests on the side of the road, and when he wants to go to the bathroom, he stops at gas stations. "For me, all walking is not difficult. When moving, if your mind is peaceful, happy and overcomes obstacles, you will feel that there are no obstacles ahead," he said.
