Mr. Thich Minh Tue voluntarily stopped walking alms, supported by officials to do CCCD

According to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Mr. Le Anh Tu (Thich Minh Tue) was born in 1981 in Ky Van commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province; permanent residence registration in Ia To commune, Ia Grai district, Gia Lai province; Currently, there is no fixed residential address, no citizen identity card.

The agency said that starting from 2017 to 2023, Thich Minh Tue self-consciously practiced begging and walked from South to North 3 times and vice versa. During that process, his movement and practice of prayers took place smoothly, without difficulties, obstructions and without affecting security and order.

2024 is the 4th time Mr. Tu has walked from Khanh Hoa province, following the main road to Cao Bang - Ha Giang and is now going in the opposite direction, now reaching the central region. However, according to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, on Thich Minh Tue's return journey, there was a large gathering of people following him, affecting security and order and environmental landscape.

Especially, on May 30, a man in the accompanying group named Luong Thanh S. (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) suffered from heat stroke, multiple organ failure, gastrointestinal bleeding that led to not passing.

Next, on June 2, two women who followed Mr. Tu also suffered heat stroke, drowned, and collapsed on the road. The authorities were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

However, it is necessary to ensure the safety of people's lives, health and social stability. "Mr. Le Anh Tu was well aware of the rights and obligations of citizens, voluntarily stopped walking alms," the Government Committee for Religious Affairs said.

In order to ensure social stability, life, health and freedom of belief and religion, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs believes that all people, if they have beliefs and needs in religious activities, need to learn and practice the correct doctrines and canons of religions, in accordance with fine customs and customs, cultural traditions of the nation and laws of the State.

According to media reports, when Thich Minh Tue voluntarily stopped the alms walk, the authorities assisted in getting him where he wanted to go. There, he was supported by local authorities to obtain identity documents, ensuring citizenship in accordance with the law.

Previously, Thich Minh Tue's walking process along the north and south attracted public attention. He said he was not a Buddhist monk, did not practice and was not an employee of any pagoda or monastery of the Vietnam Buddhist Church.

Over the years, he only listened to the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, and learned to cultivate his first virtue. This practice has 13 ascetics, of which the first virtue is one of the highest and most scripture of the Dharma. The first cultivator accepts difficulties in matters of eating, dressing, and staying (wearing patches, almsgiving, eating one meal a day, not accepting offerings, refusing all amenities, etc.).

Mr. Thich Minh Tue shared that he used to doubt the teachings of the Buddha, now he is more mature, so he wants to study and follow those teachings to see if he can be happy and peaceful. When he decided to leave home or quit his job to walk, he himself thought very carefully, then asked his parents for permission to leave.

Because of his determination to follow the first asceticism, in the process of walking he always picked up cloths discarded on the side of the road or in garbage cans and sewed them back into clothes, which someone deliberately threw for him would not accept. He ate only one meal a day. When on the road, if he meets someone with a heart or a charm to send vegetarian rice or water, he uses just enough. Through rivers and streams he stopped to bathe.

In the evenings, he often rests on the side of the road, and when he wants to go to the bathroom, he stops at gas stations. "For me, all walking is not difficult. When moving, if your mind is peaceful, happy and overcomes obstacles, you will feel that there are no obstacles ahead," he said.
