The false palace said in a very panicked and trembling voice so that Mrs. P. believed the kidnapping was real, so Mrs. P. believed and transferred more than 5.7 billion VND to the kidnappers to save Cung. When receiving money from Mrs. P., Cung spent 5 million VND for those who pretended to be kidnappers.

In order to continue taking money from Mrs. P., Cung used a Chinese phone number sim to text Ms. P., the content was that Cung owed 7 billion dong and had fled to China, not daring to return to Vietnam. Mrs. P. believes it's true, so she transferred more than 7 billion VND to help Cung. After that, Cung lied that he was sick and owed 4.5 billion dong...

The total amount that Cung appropriated from P. was nearly 18.6 billion VND, Cung returned nearly 7 billion VND to Mrs. P. Thus, the amount of money that Cung appropriated from Mrs. P. is more than 11.6 billion VND.

According to the trial panel, defendant Cung has aggravating circumstances due to repeated crimes, while mitigating circumstances are sincere declarations, repentance, relatives have paid part of the remedial money. As for the defendant Si, who honestly declared, overcame the consequences and played the role of an accomplice, but it was not significant, so it should be considered mitigating.

Except for the remedial amount, defendant Cung is responsible for returning more than 60 billion VND to the 4 victims. The procedural agency has distrained some assets of defendant Cung to carry out remedial work.
