The incident of workers not receiving Tet gifts was posted on many websites with videos and photos. After receiving the feedback, the Thuan An City Labor Federation worked with the grassroots union and workers.

Accordingly, in the days near the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, about 3,000 workers of a company specializing in leather shoe processing in Thuan Giao ward, Thuan An city, Binh Duong province received a notice from the company's union about the Each person will be given a gift. However, the specific gift is not known to the workers in advance.

On the afternoon of January 25, when the union organized a gift including 4 boxes of assorted candies, the workers immediately reacted because they thought it was unsatisfactory.

The situation became more tense when thousands of workers gathered to protest, demanding that the company give more "reasonable" Tet gifts, because each month they had to pay 45,000 VND in union money.

After receiving the information, Thuan An City Labor Federation got involved. According to initial records, the Tet gift that the Grassroots Union bought to give to the workers was 450,000 VND. Thuan An City Labor Confederation evaluates this gift as a lot, the quality of the gift is guaranteed.

Before that, nearly half a month ago, at SM Co., Ltd., some people also incited workers to stop work. The authorities invited relevant people to work and these people pledged not to incite, but this time it continued.

Currently, the situation of workers at SM Co., Ltd. has stabilized again.

Regarding taking care of Tet for union members and difficult workers at SM Company Limited, the grassroots Trade Union has reviewed the difficult labor situation to propose support.

Thuan An City People's Committee supported 70 workers in difficult circumstances, each support was 1 million VND. In addition, the Union budget also allocated funds to support 270 difficult labor union members, each amount being 500,000 VND. The Trade Union also organizes promotional sales markets in Thuan An city to support workers in difficult circumstances.

It is known that, despite the difficult context, SM Co., Ltd. also announced a 13th month salary bonus for employees.

Another case that makes workers worried is that the company withholds part of their 13th month salary bonus, causing their daily activities to be affected.

Mr. NVQ (32 years old, from An Giang) shared that he worked for a Taiwanese leather shoe business located in VSIP Industrial Park (Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province) for 9 years; are a few people who have worked for a long time at the company.

However, at the end of the year, he and his workers all have many thoughts when the company gives Tet bonuses.

According to Mr. Q, in previous years the company would give Tet bonuses equal to the 13th month's salary (equivalent to 1 month's basic salary), plus a Tet gift in kind from the union. However, in the past 3 years, workers' 13th month salary has been withheld 40% for different reasons, including the company's economic difficulties, as well as employee retention.

This year, Mr. Q also had 40% of his 13th month salary bonus withheld, and the company union gave him a gift including sugar, coffee, cakes, and cooking oil. Having his year-end bonus and Tet gifts withheld made him and other workers unhappy. He and the other workers expressed their opinions many times to the department head, but nothing was changed or improved over the years.

"Tet gifts given by the union are also meaningful, but how to make them satisfactory, the quantity and quality must also be appropriate, each month the workers pay tens of thousands of union fees. As for the 13th month bonus, so pay all workers for Tet expenses" - Mr. Q expressed.

Meanwhile, like many other companies, New Apparel Far Eastern Co., Ltd. (Vietnam) also gives Tet bonuses with the 13th month salary for senior workers. At the same time, the union organized Tet gifts for more than 2,900 people working here with a total amount of more than 681 million. The gifts are mainly candy and essential items for daily living.
