The case of 73-year-old Nguyen Thi L. (Phu Tho) suspected of being kicked out of her house by her son and daughter-in-law recently, has caused a stir in the community. Recently, her 2 biological daughters also acted offensively.
It has now been more than half a month since the commencement of the incident, and Mrs. L. is still in a temporary house on the land in dispute.
It is known that Mrs. L. has a son and 3 daughters. After her husband died in 2011, she gave all her land and property to her son and her daughters had their share. According to Mrs. L., the land on which the makeshift hut she was staying on was the land that had previously been split. One side for her grandson (her son has built a spacious 3-storey house) and this land for Mrs. L. for her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. Vu Van Q. and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh L. on the condition that the latter use as well as be responsible for supporting the mother.
According to Mrs. L., after changing the name of the land, the attitude of the children towards her was no longer the same as before, for more than 1 year Mrs. L. went to her mother's house, when she went to her daughter's house. On December 15, 2023, finding that the land she had given to her son had been sold, Mrs. L. was shocked and went to the land and sat crying, having been set up a temporary shack by neighbors so far.
Recently, on the social media account, there was posted a video purportedly that Mrs. L.'s two daughters expressed their desire to ask donors to help buy Mrs. L. the disputed land:
"I hope the donors can give my grandmother some land so that she can be named in the future, so that my grandmother can live more comfortably, not have to live with her children. Her land, she told her to live here, die here and not go far. Many donors wanted to take her home but she insisted she didn't. I hope the donor will help her in this situation.
Tet is coming, looking at this scene is also very miserable. The family was reunited and Mom had to stay in this hut. Her children wanted to take her home, but she didn't agree. She said that the grass from the old days she made, now she has to live with her children, with the bridal house, there is no such custom. There is no custom outside the North, not with girls, in fear of later fame."
Another of her daughters who appears in the video also voiced her desire for the community's help:
"Your mother only has a hut, and we are also miserable and sorry so we want to get justice for your mother. Call it a little help for your mother to relieve her hardship, relieve suffering. We were also more reassured, and there was incense for him the next day. Wishing to make a small house for her, she lived to the age of a hundred and even when she died was allowed to ghost her land."
However, the incident is still receiving mixed opinions from the public. Most people expressed their frustration at these sharing of 2 daughters.
According to Life and Law, Mr. M., Mrs. L.'s grandson, said that both Mrs. L. and her son and his wife were reconciled by the Commune People's Committee but failed because they could not find common ground. At the same time, Mrs. L. also filed a petition with the competent authority to recover the disputed land.
"My grandmother wanted Uncle Q. and his wife to give her 5m2 of land to live in and as a place of worship, but they definitely refused. They said they would go out and rent the house, giving up the house they were living in to her. However, they only let her stay, not rename her. She was afraid that her children would sell their house again in the future, and she would be helpless. From the beginning, my grandmother always wanted to keep her father's land," M. said.
Her daughter-in-law, L., has denied mistreating her mother-in-law but has also admitted to selling the land given to her by her mother-in-law on the pretext of protecting her share of the property from being claimed by her mother-in-law.
