Father and daughter spent 200 million for someone to punish son's mistress with aci.d

On the evening of February 20, Hanoi City Police announced that they had arrested 09 subjects to investigate the act of intentionally causing injury that occurred in Son Tay town.

Previously, at 10:20 p.m. on February 12, 2025, Son Tay Town Police received a report that evening that Ms. H (born in 1995; permanent residence: Thanh Ba, Phu Tho) was returning to her rented house in Tan Phuc village, Son Dong commune, Son Tay town when two men suddenly sprayed pepper spray in her face, then used an iron rod to bea.t her legs and arms, and poured aci.d on her thighs, legs, and arms. As a result, Ms. H was seriously injured and is currently being treated at the National Burn Hospital.

Identifying the recklessness of the subjects, especially the use of dangerous aci.d causing panic among the people, the Director of the City Police Department directed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with the Son Tay Town Police and related units to urgently investigate and clarify the incident.

As of February 19, 2025, the City Police Department's Investigation Police Agency has arrested 9 subjects including: Do Van Tan (born: 1976; permanent residence: Phung Thuong, Phuc Tho, Hanoi); Do Thi Kim Phuong (born: 2000; permanent residence: Phung Thuong, Phuc Tho, Hanoi); Khuat Van Tuy (born: 1991; permanent residence: Cam Yen, Thach That, Hanoi); Pham Xuan Ton (born: 1987; permanent residence: Ngoc Lien, Cam Giang, Hai Duong); Pham Duc Anh (born: 1989; permanent residence: Ngoc Lien, Cam Giang, Hai Duong); Le Duc Dung (born: 2009; permanent residence: Cam Dien, Cam Giang, Hai Duong); Tran Ba Quan (born: 2008; permanent residence: Luong Dien, Cam Giang, Hai Duong) and Bui Dinh Ngach (born: 1985; permanent residence: Cam Phuc, Cam Giang, Hai Duong), Le Van Nhat (born: 1994; permanent residence: Phuc Dien, Cam Giang, Hai Duong).

Based on the investigation documents, the police agency determined that Do Van Tan's son, D.QT, had a wife and 2 children but had an extramarital affair with Ms. H. The family could not stop him, so on February 11, 2025, Do Van Tan and Tan's daughter, Do Thi Kim Phuong, through Pham Xuan Ton's introduction, hired Pham Duc Anh, Le Van Nhat, Le Duc Dung, and Tran Ba Quan to break Ms. H's legs and pour aci.d on her for 200 million VND.

On the evening of February 12, 2025, the subjects were taken by Bui Dinh Ngach to Tan Phuc village, Son Dong commune, Son Tay town. When discovering H was moving towards the motel, Dung ran out to stop her and sprayed pepper spray into H's eyes. Meanwhile, Quan took a baseball bat and hit H's legs many times, causing her to fall in front of the motel door. After that, Nhat took a bottle of aci.d and hit the gir.l's thighs, legs, and arms, then the whole group ran to the car and escaped.

Ms. H was then taken to the emergency room with 5% chemical burns on her thighs, calves, legs, arms, and hands. She also suffered a fracture of the middle third of her right tibia, the upper third of her left fibula on both legs, and a fracture of the base of her left hand. The victi.m is currently being treated at the National Burn Institute.

On February 13, Tan paid 200 million VND. Of this amount, Duc Anh transferred 185 million VND to Nhat to divide among his accomplices. The police collected samples of hydrochloric aci.d (HCL), a can of pepper spray, two black Camry cars, a baseball bat, and 9 cell phones from the suspects involved.

The 2015 Penal Code, amended in 2017, has many new provisions on intentional injury when using aci.d or dangerous chemicals. Accordingly, the act of using dangerous aci.d or dangerous chemicals, even if the injury is less than 11%, will still be prosecuted for criminal liability. If using dangerous aci.d or dangerous chemicals without committing a crime, it will also be prosecuted under Clause 6, Article 134 on the crime of "Intentionally causing injury or harm to the health of another person" with the act of preparing to commit a crime.

If the total injury rate of the victims is from 11% to 30%, the subject will be handled according to Clause 2, Article 134 of the Penal Code with a penalty of imprisonment from 02 years to 06 years.

In case the total injury rate of the victims is from 31 to 60%, the penalty will be imprisonment from 05 to 10 years. In case the injury rate of the victims is from 61% or more, the penalty can be up to 14 years in prison.
