The boss of Tan Hue Vien - the largest pizza processing company in Soc Trang, comes from a hired labor department, starting a strange cake making business with... knife and an aluminum plate. Now, he has become the "king of pia cakes" of the Western land.

According to Soc Trang Tourism, Pia cake is one of the famous specialties of Soc Trang province, but there are not many standard sales points to serve tourists.

Of the more than 40 establishments specializing in the production of pia cakes and sausages, there are 3 establishments that have been recognized as standard shopping destinations to serve tourists, namely Tan Hue Vien Bakery Food Processing Co., Ltd., Public Thanh Private Enterprise, Quang Tran Private Enterprise.

In particular, Tan Hue Vien is both a production base and a shopping destination with the largest scale in the province. The shopping point of Tan Hue Vien company is invested and built on an area of 1,200m2, including a shopping area for specialties, a refreshment dining area, a product display area, and a miniature pia production model.

Currently, Tan Hue Vien's durian pia cake is being exported to more than 20 countries around the world.

The boss comes from a hired labor background

Thai Tuan was born in 1968 in a poor family in Soc Trang city. At the ag.e of 12, Tuan had to quit school and roll into life to ear.n mone.y to support his family by repairing cars. After repairing his car, Tuan applied to work for a pawn production facility in Vung Thom (Phu Tam commune, Chau Thanh district, Soc Trang), a few tens of kilometers from home. Working here, Tuan was only paid by the owner every day, not paid like other workers, because Tuan was only 14 years old at that time.

Working hard, Tuan couldn't stop worrying: "What do I have to do to change my life?". To find the answer, Tuan worked hard while studying. A year later, he was assigned by his master to mix the filling. Hard work, having to work around the clock, the salary is not high, but Tuan is not discouraged.

Many nights, I lay on my forehead and thought: "If people can do it, I can do it, I have to try to know...". And Tuan quietly realized his dream of changing his life by doing a very bold thing: Buying an aluminum sheet, a knife to... open the cake production oven. The dream is there, the energy is also surplus, but there is a lack of capital. When his brother got married, Tuan "risked" to ask him to borrow the entire wedding celebration mone.y as capital to buy: flour, sugar, beans... for cake production. Loving you, the brother agreed to let Tuan fulfill his dream.

There are production materials, but another difficulty comes to Tuan, that is, there is no mold to make cakes. At that time, bakery owners had to spend a lot of mone.y to order molds. "Unchanging, improvising", "in the difficult to reveal the wise", Tuan has his own way: making his own cake molds.

Those who knew Tuan from that time told him that the way Tuan made cake molds was like no other: just a log and a milling knife, Tuan eagerly carved and chopped for several days in a row. Countless drops of Tuan's sweat have dripped down the cake mold... different from that person. Finally, Tuan made the molds he wanted, as beautiful as the "good" craftsmen. So God is not so unfair when he endows Tuan with talented hands, creativity and industrious virtue, to make up for the lack of luck from childhood. Up to now, the factory's cake mold is still made by Director Thai Tuan himself.

Tuan said: "In addition to delicious quality, beautiful and rich designs also contribute to the success of the product, so I am constantly exploring to create new molds."

Tuan has never said that the cake he makes is the best and the largest output, but in the local baking world, almost all of them recognize that Tan Hue Vien is the No. 1 pia cake manufacturer in Soc Trang, accounting for over 50% of the market share. To quickly achieve this position, of course, Thai Tuan must have a very different way of doing things compared to the traditional way.

From just a small production facility in the family, Thai Tuan himself was both an owner, a master craftsman and a marketer and delivery person, until 1996, Tuan expanded production, hired 20 more workers to increase output. In 2000, the number of workers reached 60, and now there are less than 300 people, not to mention seasonal workers.

Lien Hoa Stupa project is about to come into operation

In March 2018, Tan Hue Vien started the construction of the Lien Hoa Bao Thap project, the location of the project is adjacent to the location of Tan Hue Vien Company with a total area of over 42,000 m2. Recently, according to the General Director, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The project has an investment capital of hundreds of billions, including many items. In particular, the lotus-shaped Lien Hoa Stupa is a prominent highlight of the project, with three floors, with a height of about 68m and a diameter of 99m. Inside is a statue of the Pharmacist weighing 19 tons, 6.8m high.
