Hang Du Muc 'confronts' the anti-government group, declares to establish a record, 'teased' a series of evidence?

With 5 million followers on TikTok and 2.2 million fans on Facebook, Hang Du Muc (Nguyen Thi Thai Hang, born in 1995) is a famous livestream "rich lady" among netizens.

But from here, she got into a lot of trouble related to closing deals, the latest being the issue related to lotus root powder products. Accordingly, on December 29, 2024, a TikTok channel with the abbreviation THH - nearly 30k followers posted a clip about lotus root powder products. Although the quote in the clip was blurred, it was easy to see that Hang Du Muc was introducing this product.

After quoting from Hang Du Muc's livestream, 2 characters in the clip (face hidden) raised 3 problems with lotus root powder.

Firstly, the ingredients include "gel powder to make mixed glue". Secondly, it is not produced in Hangzhou as advertised but in Shandong. The reason given by THH channel is "saying it is produced in Hangzhou makes Vietnamese people familiar with it, creating trust, anyway, no one understands anything. Just looking at the face is enough to believe, so why do you need to understand?"

Finally, the clip provides information that this product was sued in China on December 4, 2021 for ingredients that did not match the announcement. The plaintiff bought 823 boxes of lotus root powder to donate to a nursing home.

In conclusion, one of the two characters in this clip said about the lotus root powder product: "If you have to go to court and still sell it as a high-class product, all trust will be lost. Not only me but many other people are also being deceived. You are selling products that are not true to the advertisement, the value and the ingredients, but you still brazenly bring them to the market for consumption."

Currently - February 17, the clip on THH channel has 1.7 million views, nearly 74k likes and more than 2k comments. Many people have spoken out to defend Hang Du Muc, asking the character in the channel to appear publicly to increase authenticity. On the contrary, many opinions expressed doubts about the quality of Hang Du Muc's products, including lotus root powder and some other products.

"After hearing that, I lost faith in Hang Du Muc", "What kind of vegetable candy is that? It says eating 1 candy is equal to eating 1 plate of vegetables while vegetables are fiber. The advertisement and explanation are not clear", "I bought red apples online and they are very sweet, I love them, but Hang Du Muc's apples are not delicious, not sweet and a bit bitter", "Eating too much wolfberry is not good, and products with all this powder and that powder are not safe",... are some of the comments below this clip.

Previously, Hang Du Muc many times brought lotus root powder mixed with seeds to livestream, introducing that in addition to lotus root powder, there are also other toppings such as sweet potatoes, wolfberries, red apples, chia seeds, almonds, raisins, pumpkin seeds, etc. According to Hang, the uses of this powder are to support digestive problems, sleep, cool the body, nourish the ski.n, and nourish the bloo.d.

Currently, this product is no longer in Hang Du Muc's shopping cart. In the market, this product is still retailed at prices ranging from 50,000 - 80,000 VND/box.

On the evening of February 16, 2025, nearly 2 months after the clip "exposin.g" lotus root powder was posted, Hang Du Muc gave his first official response.

Regarding the ingredient called "gel powder for making mixed glue", Hang Du Muc affirmed that this ingredient is not present in the product and that THH channel is translating it incorrectly. Regarding the origin, Hang Du Muc declared that she never said that Hangzhou lotus root powder was manufactured in Hangzhou. Regarding the product being sued, Hang Du Muc said that she had researched the lawsuit file made public by the authorities. As a result, the sued product was black sesame walnut powder, not lotus root powder, these two products are from the same company. The reason for the lawsuit is that the ingredients are not the same as announced.

Early morning of February 17, right after Hang Du Muc spoke up, THH also made an announcement on the channel. In the post, the channel explained that it was established with the main purpose of protecting consumer rights, and had no personal grudge against anyone.

Regarding the lotus root powder video, this channel promised to upload a clear explanation video after finding more information but could not find "the official store link of this brand". Therefore, THH channel asked the online community to support information.

However, more than 10 hours ago, Hang Du Muc and the company officially announced that they had banned the Tiktok channel THHu for using Hang Du Muc's image in the video posted on December 29, 2024 to post false information and lead public opinion in a negative direction, which has seriously affected the image and reputation of Hang Du Muc. Hang Du Muc has contacted the Department of Information and Communications to verify the exact owner of this tiktok account and is submitting a request to the Cyber Security Department to coordinate in investigating the identity of the account and the members appearing in that clip.
