Due to the impact of storm No. 6 (Trami), over the past 2 days, Quang Nam province has had moderate to heavy rain. In some mountainous areas, there is a risk of landslides, local authorities have quickly evacuated thousands of people to ensure safety.

On the morning of October 27, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Liem - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Gia Commune, Hiep Duc District, Quang Nam Province - continued to issue a document on maintaining conditions at the evacuation area for people in Gia Cao Village (Phuoc Gia Commune).

According to the report of Phuoc Gia Commune People's Committee, on October 26, through checking the storm response work, Phuoc Gia Commune discovered on the top of the hill right in the middle of Na No residential area (Gia Cao village), a crack appeared with a depth of about 1 m, 30 m long in the shape of an arc, radius of 10 m, estimated volume of rock and soil at risk of landslide is about 100 m3.

Faced with the risk of affecting people's safety, local authorities mobilized all police forces, commune militia, regular militia, youth union members, and women to mobilize and support people to evacuate to safety.

By 6 p.m. on October 26, all 30 households with 163 people in Na No residential area, mostly Ca Dong people, were temporarily relocated to Kpa-KLong Primary School. In addition, Phuoc Gia commune also evacuated 3 households with 11 people in the neighboring area at risk of landslides to a safe place.

Phuoc Gia Commune People's Committee requested the functional branches of the commune to manage the Na No residential area evacuation point at Kpa-Kơ Luông school, absolutely not allowing any people to return home without the notice of the end of the evacuation from the competent authority; resolutely enforce and handle households and individuals who arbitrarily abandon the evacuation and return home in Na No residential area.

At the same time, the Commander of the Commune Military Command is requested to preside over and coordinate with the Commune Police, grassroots security forces, shock troops and volunteer youth forces to urgently clean up and arrange a cooking area (the parking area behind the school) to arrange for households to cook for themselves in the event of a long-term evacuation...

Regarding the situation of storm Trami, on the morning of October 27, some coastal areas of Quang Nam province recorded strong winds and large waves. In Cu Lao Cham, at many times, strong winds of level 8, gusting to level 10 were recorded. On land, light rain continued in many localities. Authorities forecast that this rain could cause water levels on rivers to rise, causing a flood at levels above alert 1 to alert 2.

Quang Nam has evacuated 4,412 households/18,306 people in 10 localities including Duy Xuyen, Phuoc Son, Tay Giang, Dai Loc, Hiep Duc, Tam Ky, Tien Phuoc, Hoi An, Nam Tra My, Phu Ninh to safety. Localities are continuing to evacuate and relocate people from dangerous areas.

Updated data up to 12 o'clock the same day from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the center of storm Trami is located at about 16.1 degrees North latitude - 108 degrees East longitude, on the mainland of Thua Thien Hue - Da Nang. The storm's strongest wind has decreased to level 8-9, gusting to level 11. It is forecasted that in the next 3 hours, the storm will move southwest at a speed of about 10-15 km/hour.

According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention, strong winds have been recorded in many areas: Con Co (Quang Tri) level 8, gusting to level 9; Cu Lao Cham (Quang Nam) level 8, gusting to level 10; Ly Son (Quang Ngai) level 6, gusting to level 7; Nam Dong (Thua Thien Hue) level 8, gusting to level 10; Cam Le (Da Nang) level 8, gusting to level 9. It is forecasted that by 10 p.m. today, storm Trami will weaken into a tropical depression on the mainland of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam - Da Nang.
