The case of tons of functional foods being dumped in an unusual way along the roadsides of Ho Chi Minh City is gradually revealin.g surprising details. Exclusive sources said that Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with the authorities have identified and worked with Mr. Nguyen Phuoc S. (36 years old, from Quang Ngai; residing in District 12) - the owner of this huge amount of evidence. Mr. S. is known as the Director and legal representative of Natural Care Green Health Company Limited, headquartered in Tan Hung Thuan Ward, District 12. The case not only expose.d the "floating" business tricks on e-commerce platforms but also showed the extreme fear of illegal traders when being "caught".
Previously, through extracting security cameras near locations where functional foods were dumped along Nguyen Van Linh Street (Phong Phu Commune, Binh Chanh District) and applying other professional measures, the police invited two people, TVC (34 years old) and TML (32 years old, both living in Binh Chanh District) to work.
These two people confessed that they were the ones who used a three-wheeled vehicle to transport a large amount of functional foods to empty lots along Nguyen Van Linh Street. They said they were just hired transporters, and the owner of the shipment was Mr. Nguyen Phuoc S. Under pressure from the investigation agency, the secret curtain about the "boss" behind the disposal was gradually revealed, leading to important clues about illegal business activities.
When working with the authorities, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc S. confessed to all his actions. Over the past year, Mr. S. purchased many types of functional foods from different floating sources, of unknown origin, and brought them to store in his company's warehouse. After that, Mr. S. promoted and sold these functional foods on major e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada... to enjoy huge profit margins.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. S. admitted that the above functional food products had absolutely no invoices or documents proving their legal origin. This shows that this is an illegal business line, posing many potential risks to consumers' health.
Recently, Mr. S. noticed that the authorities are stepping up investigations to handle the production and trading of counterfeit, poor quality goods without invoices and documents. Fearing that his facility would be inspected and severely punished, Mr. S. came up with the idea of hiring someone to transport these functional foods to destroy the evidence.
Mr. S. instructed the two hired drivers to destroy and burn all the functional foods. However, the two drivers realized that the functional food boxes were intact and still within their expiration dates, so they only threw away a small portion and kept the rest. This action of the two hired drivers unintentionally retained important evidence, helping the police quickly solve the case.
As reported by the media, on the morning of June 6, people discovered tons of functional foods dumped in piles along Nguyen Van Linh Street. Immediately upon receiving the news, Phong Phu Commune authorities sent forces to investigate, cordoned off the scene and reported to Ho Chi Minh City Police.
Police recorded 4 locations where functional foods were dumped in piles. The main confiscated items were functional foods for liver and brain health, digestive support, memory enhancement, DHA supplements for children, vitamins for children or pregnant women... and a few cough pills.
Notably, on the packaging of thousands of boxes and blister packs of functional foods, the expiration date is stated to be 2026-2028. In addition to being written in Vietnamese, there are also words in English, Korean, Japanese... Some products even state that they are produced at factories in Hanoi, Thanh Hoa... This further raises doubts about the origin and real quality of these products, when they are sold without valid documents and then disposed of in an unusual way.
