A series of health foods are recalled again, mothers are wary of 'delicious syrup'

Over the past time, a series of counterfeit goods and low-quality goods have been rampant throughout the market. In particular, bad guys are becoming more and more sophisticated when there are many counterfeit goods from large units, targeting all users, not ignoring anyone, including small ones.

On June 6, the Department of Food Safety announced the decision to revoke 12 certificates of declaration of health food products. Notably, among these, there are up to 10 products belonging to the same production unit, showing signs of a review and tightening of product quality management in the Vietnamese market.

In the list of products whose licenses have been revoked, Trumpharmaco Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Unit (registered at No. 36, Lane 23, Nhat Tao Street, Dong Ngac Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi) accounts for 10 products. This is an alarming number, raising questions about serious problems that may exist in the production process, quality control, or transparency in the company's disclosure documents. Although the Food Safety Administration has not announced the details of the reason for the recall of each of Trumpharmaco's products, the fact that a large number of products from the same unit are "removed" at the same time will certainly raise many big questions about their safety and effectiveness once on the market.

Vietnam's health food market has witnessed many cases of products of unknown origin, false advertising, and even containing banned substances that are harmful to consumers' health. The mass revocation of licenses from a manufacturing unit such as Trumpharmaco further strengthens concerns about the shortcomings of internal quality management by some units, and shows the need for more stringent inspections.

In addition to Trumpharmaco's products, the Department of Food Safety also revoked the Certificate of Registration of Product Declaration No. 10198/2018/DKSP dated 16/12/2018 of Berocca Performance Mango health supplement food. The revocation of a product of this large unit will certainly attract great attention and require Bayer Vietnam to have a clear explanation of the reason for the revocation, as well as subsequent handling measures. This also shows the strictness and fairness of the authorities, regardless of the size or reputation of the unit in quality management and food safety assurance.

The management agency also revoked the Certificate of Registration of Product Declaration No. 13304/2019/DKSP dated 9/12/2019 of the health food 'Delicious Syrup'. This product is announced by A My International Unit (registered at No. 43, Group 43, Tran Binh Street, Mai Dich Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi). This product recall may be related to ingredient standards, manufacturing processes, or consumer complaints about efficiency and safety.

It is known that in recent years, many establishments have actively applied for revocation of the certificate of registration for announcement of health food products. This shows the increasing awareness of the establishments about legal responsibility and product quality, as well as the fact that they themselves review and fix problems before being "whistled" by the authorities. This is a positive signal showing a change in the behavior of business units.

The decision to revoke a series of licenses this time of the Food Safety Department takes place in the context that the Ministry of Health is implementing a strong market quality inspection and supervision campaign nationwide. In the period from May 15 to June 15, the Ministry of Health established 15 teams to simultaneously inspect the trading of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, traditional tablets and medical equipment.
