The incident of a male cashier at a coffee shop in Hanoi being "attacked" by a customer has caused a stir on the internet. Recently, the authorities announced that they have launched an investigation and the truth will be revealed as soon as possible.
On the evening of September 17, social networks suddenly went viral with a clip recording a scene of a male cashier being "physically impacted" by another person at a coffee shop in a high-end urban area in Vinh Tuy ward (Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi). Images from a surveillance camera showed the entire incident, causing public outrage.
According to the clip, the incident occurred when a group of about 5-6 male customers were sitting in the shop and smoking in an area with a no smoking sign. After discovering the behavior of this group of customers, the male cashier politely reminded them many times. However, the group of customers did not comply with the shop's regulations.
On the third reminder, a man in the group â who was called by the online community as looking like a âbossâ â raised his hand. Immediately, the man sitting next to him stood up, walked straight to the cashier counter, and suddenly âattackedâ the employee twice in a row in the face. The male customerâs violent actions caused the victim to immediately fall to the floor.
What was even more infuriating was that after the employee collapsed on the floor, the man quickly returned to his seat when the "CEO" raised his hand and shouted "stop, stop, stop" three times. A moment later, the group of customers left the restaurant as if nothing had happened.
Regarding the incident, Mr. N.D.M. (59 years old, residing in Phuc Loi ward, Long Bien, Hanoi), who is also the victim's father, confirmed that the victim was Mr. N.M.D. (28 years old), currently working as a cashier for a family coffee shop. Mr. M. said that the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. the same day when a group of customers entered the shop. Even though there was a clear no-smoking sign, a man in the group still brazenly lit a cigarette.
"My child had been reminded many times, very gently and politely. But in the end, he was attacked like that. My child is gentle and obedient, seeing that scene made me extremely sad and angry," Mr. M. shared.
After the incident, the family quickly took Mr. D. to the hospital for a health check. At the same time, Mr. M. also went directly to Vinh Tuy Ward Police to report, hoping that the authorities would soon investigate and clarify the matter.
Speaking to the media, the commander of Vinh Tuy Ward Police said that the unit had received information about the incident and was verifying it. "We have grasped the incident, and the investigation steps are currently being deployed. When the results are available, the police will inform the press and the people in detail," he emphasized.
The incident has caused a stir in public opinion and anger. Many people believe that the act of physically impacting another person just for a proper reminder is unacceptable and needs to be dealt with severely to set an example.
Mr. D.'s health is now stable, but his mental state is still affected by the sudden shock. His family and the public expect the authorities to quickly identify the group of guests and handle the case in accordance with the law to protect the rights of the workers.
