According to Cong Thuong newspaper, on the evening of September 20, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vice Chairman of Tam Nong District People's Committee (Phu Tho Province) confirmed that he had found the tractor-trailer driver trapped in the cabin in the Phong Chau bridge collapse (Tam Nong District, Phu Tho Province) that occurred on the morning of September 9.

According to the Vice Chairman of Tam Nong District People's Committee, the driver trapped in the cabin of the tractor-trailer with license plate 19R-011.xx is Mr. HQC (38 years old, residing in Chu Hoa commune, Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province).

Previously, the authorities found the bodies of Mr. LXT (56 years old) and his wife NTH (48 years old, both living in Thach Dong commune, Thanh Thuy district, Phu Tho province). At the time of the Phong Chau bridge collapse, Mr. T. and his wife were riding a motorbike with license plate 19L-107.xx.

On the morning of September 20, authorities used cranes, excavators, and large boats to salvage the collapsed section of Phong Chau bridge, with the tractor with license plate 19R-011.xx stuck inside. For the collapsed section of the bridge, authorities used concrete breakers and gas welders to cut each section of the steel truss... then used a heavy-duty crane to pull it ashore.

Currently, units are speeding up the salvage of vehicles and collapsed bridge sections and preparing to install pontoon bridges.

As reported by PLVN newspaper, at around 10am on September 9, Phong Chau bridge in Phu Tho province collapsed. The initial cause was determined to be due to the water level on Thao river (Red river) rising very high, the strong flow swept away the T7 pillar and two main spans (spans 6 and 7 on the right bank of Thao river, in Tam Nong district).

According to the initial preliminary report of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, the bridge collapse caused 01 truck; 02 tractor-trailers; 06 motorbikes; 01 electric motorbike to fall into the river, 03 people were rescued, 08 people are missing (currently 05 people are still missing).

On September 14, after the water level of the Red River receded, authorities organized a search for the missing people and calculated a plan to salvage the fallen bridge girder.

According to records, about 50 police and military officers, along with canoes and other equipment, were mobilized to serve the search. The authorities continuously searched the river, using professional measures to search for the victims.

The People's Committee of Phu Tho province has also just issued a document requesting the Provincial Military Command - the standing agency for search and rescue and civil defense of the province to take the lead, preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches, agencies and units to develop specific plans, mobilize forces, means and organize the search for people and salvage vehicles to ensure speed and safety.
