Stainless steel railing fall at school: 1 student's skul.l fractured, encroaching on brain, 8th grade student tells shocking story

On the afternoon of April 14, Vinh University (Nghe An province) sent a report to relevant authorities about the railing collapse that injured 3 students. Among them, 1 femal.e studen.t was seriously injured and is in critical condition.

According to the report, at around 9:30 a.m. the same day, at Vinh University's Primary, Secondary and High School for Pedagogical Practice, a railing fell from the 4th floor to the school yard. The incident injured 3 female 9th grade students, NPGT; NNHT and VKQ, who were standing below.

The injured students were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment immediately afterwards. Among them, VKQ suffered a traumatic brain injury and is being treated at Nghe An General Hospital. According to the doctor directly treating the patient, the skul.l of patient Q. was broken and penetrated the bloo.d vessels in the brain, causing serious damage. At Vinh City General Hospital, femal.e studen.t Tr. is also receiving intensive care due to bloo.d loss, severe shoc.k, and an open wound on the head nearly 10cm long.

Immediately after the incident, the school coordinated with relevant authorities to clarify the matter. It is known that on the afternoon of April 14, all students of Vinh University Pedagogical Practice High School were absent from school, and the school's entrances and exits were sealed. "Regarding why the school railing could slip off and fall on the group of female students, we are waiting for the investigation results. Currently, there are no official results," the leader of the Student Political Affairs Department of Vinh University added.

Regarding the above incident, on the afternoon of April 14, speaking with reporters, a leader of the People's Committee of Ben Thuy Ward, Vinh City, Nghe An Province said that after the incident occurred, the authorities and functional forces were present at the scene, and the cause of the incident is currently being investigated and clarified by the police.

An 8th grade student who witnessed the incident recounted that he saw his friends playing on the 4th floor when suddenly the stainless steel railing fell to the ground. Luckily, a student was pulled back by a friend, avoiding falling along the railing.

At the scene, a piece of stainless steel railing more than 1 meter long fell from the 4th floor, leaving a gap. The building where the incident occurred is 5 stories high. The incident caused many students and parents to panic and worry about the safety of the school's facilities, which are in the process of deterioration and need to be repaired in the near future to ensure the safety of students.

Mr. NS, a relative of Tr., said that at around 9:45 a.m. the same day, while working at Vinh market, he received news that his nephew had an acciden.t at school. When arriving at the hospital, Tr. was taken to the emergency room with two other classmates.

"I had a wound on my head that required 13 stitches. Since then, the teachers have always been by my side, encouraging my family and helping me stabilize my mental and physical health," Mr. S. shared.

Ms. N.D., Tr.'s mother, who is working in Laos, shared: "When I heard the news of my chil.d's acciden.t, my legs went numb, I couldn't believe my ears. Being away from my chil.d, I could only cry a lot. Luckily, at home, I still have my brother, grandmother and siblings to take care of him."

According to Ms. D., although she really wants to return to her chil.d immediately, due to the distance, she can only pray for her daughter to recover soon and receive attentive care from her family, school and medical team.

Vinh University Pedagogical Practice School was established in 2009 and is located on the campus of Vinh University.
