In recent days, social networks have been abuzz with the news of the deat.h of soldier Nguyen Van Nghiep. Many unfounded rumors related to this story have been spread, causing public confusion. Recently, Military Region 1 (QK1) has released official information about the incident.
According to Military Region 1 (QK1), at around 8:00 a.m. on February 9, soldier Nguyen Van Nghiep, corporal, weapons officer, Company 1, Battalion 4, Regiment 12 (Division 3) reported to his company commander that he had symptoms of fever, nausea, and abdominal pain.
Accordingly, soldier Nghiep was examined by the unit's medical department, given IV fluids, fever reducers, antibiotics and monitored. However, soldier Nghiep's health did not improve, so the unit transferred him to Military Hospital 110 and then Military Central Hospital 108 for treatment. Here, doctors and nurses actively treated him, but soldier Nguyen Van Nghiep did not survive.
Through test results, the 108 Military Central Hospital determined that soldier Nghiep had circulatory arrest outside the hospital due to septic shoc.k caused by fulminant meningococcus. "The correct diagnosis is that the patient had septic fever and multiple organ failure due to meningococcus. This is a very severe form of the disease caused by meningococcus bacteria. People often call it the lightning strike form. The patient's condition was very severe, from 8am until arriving at the hospital around 11-12pm, that is, in less than 24 hours. The patient had all the symptoms of septic shoc.k and multiple organ failure, including systemic bleedin.g, which is very typical of hemorrhagic disease caused by meningococcus. This disease often occurs in young people," said Colonel, Dr. Vu Viet Sang (Deputy Director of the Clinical Institute of Infectious Diseases, 108 Military Central Hospital).
Immediately after soldier Nghiep passed away, to ensure objectivity, law enforcement agencies intervened, requested a forensic examination to clarify the cause of deat.h (witnessed by soldier Nghiep's family) and carried out procedures according to the provisions of law.
Military Region 1 Command sent a working delegation to directly meet with the family and local authorities to inform them of the incident, encourage and support the family, and carry out policy work and organize the funeral for soldier Nguyen Van Nghiep in accordance with regulations.
In addition, the Military Preventive Medicine Institute has taken samples for testing, sprayed disinfectants, and provided instructions on how to prevent and control meningococcal meningitis for officers and soldiers of Division 3. Through testing, 7 soldiers of the unit who had direct contact with Nghiep and the doctor who treated him at Military Hospital 110 were detected and quarantined.
The family held a funeral for soldier Nguyen Van Nghiep at his hometown cemetery, Dai Lam village, Tam Da commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province, on the afternoon of February 11.
So, the above incident is very clear, the initial cause determined by the authorities that soldier Nghiep died of meningococcal infectio.n, not as some personal pages on social networks speculated and fabricated that it was due to being 'interacted' by the unit's officers. Some social network user pages even had the headline: "Soldier dies abnormally in the army - Being hidden again"? The owner of this page claimed: "Nghia called many times, desperate to complain that he was 'interacted' and torture.d by the officers and squad leader". Meanwhile, there was no specific evidence provided, only general citations that soldier Nghiep's family said so (?!)
Another user named HN also claimed that soldier Nghiep "was in college when he was forced to join the army" and then "called on everyone to share to find justice for them" (?!). This is completely fabricated and has no basis because according to the Law on Military Service, in the case of "studying at a general education institution; studying at a regular university or college" one can temporarily postpone military service.
Taking this opportunity, some websites of these subjects also spread rumors and badmouthed the military recruitment work of our Party and State. On the Facebook.book page named VT, a person loudly claimed that "This situation has been going on for so long, is there any family that dares to send their children to the army anymore", although they did not provide any specific evidence.
The reality is completely different. Every year, our country has many young people volunteering to join the army, considering this a sacred duty to the Fatherland and a good environment to train themselves. For example, in Bac Giang province, in the 2025 military recruitment campaign, more than 1,000 young people volunteered to join the army, wishing to contribute their youth to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Therefore, all citizens need to be alert and vigilant against false information, absolutely do not follow along, share or make baseless comments that affect the image of the Vietnam People's Army, causing public confusion. In addition, the authorities should strengthen inspection and strictly handle cases of intentional violations, contributing to the health of information on the internet environment.
