According to information in the press, initially the authorities determined that the female driver NTTN (41 years old, living in Thu Duc City) who drove the Mercedes on the wrong side of the road causing the accident had a blood alcohol concentration.

Specifically, at the police station, the authorities used a breathalyzer to ask the female driver to blow into the breathalyzer, and the result showed that the alcohol concentration in her body exceeded 0.4 mg/l of breath.

Currently, the police are taking a blood sample from the female driver to further test her blood alcohol level. Through the test, the female driver N. has a class B2 driver's license. The police are still taking the female driver N.'s statement to consolidate the case file and handle it according to the law.

Immediately after the accident, a clip recording the incident from a dashcam mounted on a car stopped at a red light was shared on social media, causing many people to panic.

Accordingly, at around 5:10 p.m. on March 16, when many people were stopping at a red light at the Thu Duc intersection, a Mercedes suddenly jumped from behind and rushed into the crowd. The Mercedes hit two people and threw them onto the hood, pushing a series of vehicles and drivers to fall onto the road. At this time, some drivers discovered the incident and accelerated to escape the incident. The Mercedes continued to push a vehicle in front of the car for more than 50 meters before stopping.

The accident injured 5 people, including a woman who was seriously injured and unconscious. At the scene, many motorbikes were scattered and damaged. About 30m from the scene, a Mercedes car pushed a motorbike away, stuck in front of the car, and the motorbike's seat caught fire. After the accident, the female driver opened the door, got out of the car, panicked, and burst into tears. She was then taken by the authorities to the police station 20m away.

By the morning of March 17, a representative of Gia Dinh People's Hospital - Ho Chi Minh City confirmed that the female victim HTTT, 28 years old, living in Dong Nai, had passed away despite the doctors' efforts to save her. The girl was admitted to the hospital at 6:54 p.m. on March 16 in a state of multiple injuries. The patient was unconscious, in multiple trauma shock, hemorrhagic shock, pulse and blood pressure were difficult to measure, left elbow was open fracture, right elbow wound, left hip - thigh joint deformity, swelling and bruising of the thigh and left calf, weak instep pulse.

Immediately the patient was activated with red alert, multidisciplinary coordination in diagnosis, emergency resuscitation and emergency surgery to control bleeding, control liver and pelvic injuries and pleural drainage.

After surgery, the patient continued to be resuscitated for hemorrhagic shock, fluid replacement, blood transfusion and blood products totaling 37 units, blood coagulation adjustment, and hypothermia prevention. The shock progressed severely, resuscitation did not respond, and pelvic injuries were complicated. At 5:20 a.m. on March 17, the patient passed away.

In addition, the strong impact caused the couple DTNL (40 years old, construction workers) to be thrown onto the hood, injuring their spines. After that, the car continued to rush forward, hitting many other motorbikes before stopping about 40 meters from the traffic light.

"I was waiting at a red light when I heard a loud noise behind me. I turned around and saw a white car rushing towards me, hitting a bunch of motorbikes. I couldn't run fast enough and was hit. I'm now stunned and panicking," said Hieu, the motorbike rider who was hit by the car. He said many victims had gone to the emergency room.
