Funeral of gir.l swept away by flood in Da Nang: chilling message begging father for the last time

Regarding the case of a gir.l suspected of being swept away into a stream during a heavy rain, in response to the press on May 25, Mr. Nguyen Van Anh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City, said that the gir.l's body had been found.

Accordingly, at around 4:30 p.m. the same day, authorities discovered the body of a gir.l in the Cai River (a branch of the Dong Nai River), near An Hao Bridge. The gir.l was identified as NTKN, 11 years old (residing in Quarter 2, Long Binh Ward, Bien Hoa).

According to the reporter, N.'s funeral took place quietly in the family's small rented room. On the altar, the gir.l's 5th grade graduation photo was placed solemnly - the same photo that just a few days ago, the littl.e gir.l had happily shown off to her father: "I take beautiful pictures, Dad!"

The old phone with a cracked screen of Mr. TTT - N.'s biological father - still holds the last text messages from his daughter, sent at noon on May 24, a few hours before she went out in the rain with her friends and never returned.

"Dad, let me go take a shower in the rain, please. It's been a long time since I've had a shower. I promise this is the last time. We won't take a shower in the rain any other time, and we won't ask to go again. Come on, beautiful. It's been a long time since I've had a shower, come on, dear dad."

The innocence and carefreeness in each line now becomes an endless pai.n in the father's heart - not only because of his daughter's sudden departure, but also because he was the one who agreed to let his daughter play in the first rain of the season. For the man who makes his living as a painter, that phone is now the last souvenir that retains the image and the call of "daddy" of his little daughter. The innocent pleas, the bright smile... all are now just memories.

Through investigation, it was learned that Mr. T.'s family left An Giang to go to Dong Nai to make a living in 2015, when N. was only one year old. In the early days, without a mat or pillow, he had to spread old clothes on the cement floor as a place for his chil.d to sleep, using jeans as a pillow.

Growing up in poverty, N. was always obedient, polite and loved her parents in the smallest things, such as helping with housework or leaving some good food.

Before that, at around 1:30 p.m. on May 24, NTKN (11 years old, living in neighborhood 2, Long Binh ward) and some friends in the neighborhood were bathing in the rain. Suddenly, N slipped and fell into a nearby stream and was swept away by the water.

Upon receiving the news, the Bien Hoa Fire Fightin.g and Rescue Team (Dong Nai Provincial Police Department of Fire Prevention, Fightin.g and Rescue) arrived at the scene and coordinated with local forces to search. The authorities expanded the search team along the stream from the area where N fell into the stream, downstream towards Highway 1 and vice versa. The embankments, tree roots... where N could have gotten caught were also carefully searched by the authorities.

According to N's family, when they saw her and a bo.y in the same neighborhood being swept away into the stream, N's two younger siblings rushed into the motel to call their father for help. However, when N's father arrived, he could only save the bo.y in the same neighborhood (who was caught in a bamboo bush on the stream bank), while N was swept away by the water.

N is the eldest daughter in a family of 3 children. Her family is renting a house in Quarter 2, Long Binh Ward. Her father is a painter and her mother is a worker in Bien Hoa city.
