The leader of the People's Committee of Van Mieu ward (Dong Da district, Hanoi) said he had sent a working group to inspect the actual bun cha restaurant on Quoc Tu Giam street that was accused of "washing meat" with black charcoal water.

At the meeting, the shop owner, Ms. HTP (63 years old, residing in Van Chuong ward, Dong Da district), said that while grilling, a piece of meat patty fell off the grill into the grease tray.

Mrs. P. then put the patty back on the grill to continue grilling, "there was no washing the meat with charcoal water, grease water, or dishwashing liquid" as reported on social networks.

"The facility also recognizes that picking up a patty and falling into the grease tray is wrong and commits to not letting it happen again," said the leader of the People's Committee of Van Mieu ward.

Through inspection, the facility presented a food safety commitment, food origin book, and self-certification of knowledge of the facility owner and employees.

The facility could not present the employee's periodic health examination certificate, the owner said "it was examined but lost it".

The working group fined the restaurant a total of 3.5 million VND, including 3 errors: not having glass cabinets to preserve goods (750,000 VND), not wearing gloves while processing (750,000 VND) and not having a health certificate. of workers (2,000,000 VND).

The working group recommends that the establishment owner correct the above errors, pay fines according to regulations and comply with food safety regulations for street food establishments.

Previously, a social network account posted a video accusing the bun cha restaurant of "washing meat with charcoal water, grease water and dishwashing liquid" causing a stir.

The video recorded the scene of a woman picking up pieces of meat, dipping them into a tray of black coal water mixed with grease and then putting them on the grill, making many people shudder.

Mr. Giang, the son of the owner of the bun cha restaurant, said the incident happened a few days ago, at noon when the restaurant was crowded. According to him, the water in the tray is meat fat, not charcoal water or dishwashing liquid as reported on social networks.

"According to the process, we will collect the meat's fat and water and then throw it away. That day, the piece of meat may have accidentally fallen into the coals, so the person making the stalk should quickly dip it into the meat juice to wash off the coal dust stuck to the meat," Mr. Giang said. .

Mr. Giang said that the two people in charge of grilling meat are his mother and aunt, each working alternately weekly. The person appearing in the video is the aunt. He admitted that this behavior was wrong and will correct all staff.
