Based on the documents and investigation results, on April 3, the Investigating Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security prosecuted 5 defendants for the crime of producing counterfeit goods as food and deceivin.g customers, according to the provisions of Articles 193 and 198 of the Criminal Code.

Nguyen Phong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asia Life Joint Stock Company - was identified as the organizer of the production of candies and vegetables. Phong has an act of directing employees in purchasing raw materials incorrectly.

"The raw material should be vegetable powder purchased from the farms of NSXs according to VietGAP standards, but Phong directed employees to buy vegetable powder with content below the standard level (from 0.61 to 0.75%), while the announcement was 28%," Mr. Cuong informed.

In particular, the subject also gave sorbitol accounting for 35% of the ingredients, along with other additives without announcing it to consumers. Many people believe in buying this product with good functions for digestion and laxatives, but the police said that the laxative effect comes from sorbitol.

The remaining defendants played the main role of responsibility for the items sold but did not care about the goods and product quality, only interested in promoting for the purpose of attracting buyers.

"Subjects promote and misintroduce vegetables purchased from farms according to VietGAP standards," said Colonel Cuong, adding that Pham Quang Linh (also known as Quang Linh Vlogs) alone had a livestream saying that "1 candy corresponds to a plate of vegetables".

From December 12, 2024 to March 14, 2025, the group has sold over 135,000 products to more than 30,000 customers, earning over VND 17 billion.

Colonel Tran Quoc Cuong also mentioned the situation of celebrities and influencers on social networks introducing products incorrectly, causing pai.n and frustration in public opinion. In particular, this situation causes damage to property and harms people's health.

Facing the above situation, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security have closely directed professional units and local police to focus on applying professional measures to fight against acts of using cyberspace to commit crimes.

For Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, Colonel Tran Quoc Cuong said that the investigation documents so far determined that this miss was related to the case. In the coming time, the investigating agency will actively investigate and clarify to handle according to regulations.
