The explosion occurred around 8:30 a.m., when workers were working normally at the furniture factory. According to the initial conclusion of the authorities, the cause of the incident was the explosion of a steam tank, a device commonly used in the wood industry to supply steam for production activities.

The destructive force of the explosion was extremely strong, causing part of the factory roof to collapse, many debris splashed, along with a deafening explosion that resounded far away. As a result, 6 unlucky workers died on the spot, 5 others were seriously injured, many of whom suffered multiple injuries and organ damage.

Specifically, Mr. Bui Van Hien (native of Can Tho city) who has been a worker of the company for 3 years said that at the time of the explosion, he went out to sit to rest. I had just been out for a few minutes when I heard a loud explosion and ash and dust.

When he looked at the scene, Hien saw that one person was seriously injured and carried out. As he continued to run in to see, he found 2 more seriously injured people and assisted in getting them out. Hien also saw people inside but could no longer bring them out because the site had partially collapsed.

At the time of the explosion, about 30 workers were still working in the company. According to the workers, today is International Labor Day, but the company's leaders announced that due to urgent orders, the company asked workers to still go to work with the salary doubled compared to normal days. Because the workers wanted high wages, they agreed to work.

After the explosion, many workers and residents were at the scene to assist in taking the victim to the emergency room. Authorities quickly arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, examined the scene and investigated the cause of the incident. Medical units were also urgently mobilized to provide first aid to the victims.

At Dong Nai General Hospital and Thong Nhat General Hospital, doctors urgently provided first aid to 5 injured victims. Due to the condition of severe injuries, 3 cases were operated on in time. However, due to his injuries, the victim Lo Van Lon (37 years old, from Son La) did not survive in the afternoon of the same day. The pain of loss overwhelms the victim's family and loved ones.

In order to promptly overcome the consequences and take measures to prevent similar accidents, the Prime Minister requested the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province to urgently organize thoughtful visits, promptly support family encouragement and carry out procedures related to victims of t.v.ong, visiting, encouraging, supporting and making the best efforts to treat injured victims.
