On the evening of April 18, 2025, the authorities arrested Bui Dinh Khanh, a wanted suspect in a major drug case, while he was hiding in Thanh Hoa.
Before that, Khanh had boarded a container truck from Quang Ninh to Hanoi, then continued to Phu Tho and returned to Hanoi before moving to Thanh Hoa. On the morning of April 19, 2025, driver NVÄ - the person who directly gave Khanh a ride, shared the process of contacting this dangerous subject. He said that at that time, as a daily habit, when someone flagged down the car to ask for a ride, he was still willing to help. When the car door opened, Khanh stepped in with a calm and friendly appearance, saying: "We just finished drinking, let me go to Hanoi's Old Quarter".
During the 80km journey, Khanh did not share anything about his personal life nor did he show any unusual behavior that would make the driver suspicious. After a brief introduction, Khanh said he wanted to be taken to Yen Nghia bus station. However, the driver refused because it was not convenient and informed him that he could only go to Thanh Tri area. When the car reached the beginning of Highway 5, the intersection with Thanh Tri bridge, Khanh got out of the car.
After saying goodbye to the passenger, driver D. returned home and went to sleep. He only learned about the true identity of the person who had just sat in his car when he woke up the next morning and browsed Facebook. At the same time, a phone call came from the police to verify and at the same time request to cooperate in providing dashcam data from the company.
At around 10:00 p.m. on April 18, 2025, a working group of the Criminal Police Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police arrested Bui Dinh Khanh, born in 1994, residing in Group 6, Zone 1, Gieng Day Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. Khanh is a suspect in a drug trafficking ring, and together with his accomplices, used AKs to fiercely fight back against the authorities, leading to the death of Major Nguyen Dang Khai - an officer of the Department of Investigation Police on Drug Crimes, Quang Ninh Provincial Police. After the incident, Khanh was issued a special wanted notice by the Investigation Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police.
As soon as they received information about the possibility that Khanh would travel to Thanh Hoa by bus, the provincial police leaders directed the mobilization of forces, set up task forces to block important routes and gateways, and at the same time deployed professional measures to ambush and arrest the subject.
On the same day, the working group coordinated with Dong Hai Ward Police, Thanh Hoa City to control and arrest Khanh when he stopped at a bus stop in Le Mon village, Dong Hai ward.
Quang Ninh Provincial Police said that the authorities have discovered a large-scale illegal drug trafficking and transportation ring led by Nguyen Huu Dang, born in 1967, residing in Hung Thang Ward, Ha Long City.
At around 8:20 p.m. on April 17, 2025, when the time to solve the case was ripe, in the area near Dragon Castel apartment building, the authorities caught Dang red-handed while he was preparing to trade 16 heroin cakes.
In addition, the heroic sacrifice of Major Nguyen Dang Khai made many people feel sorry, but somewhere on social networks, malicious comments appeared. Specifically, on the morning of April 18, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police discovered a post with false content on the Facebook group "Beat Thai Nguyen". This post spread false information about "The car carrying Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dang Khai sacrificed at 11:00 p.m. last night".
It is condemnable that in the comment section of the article, a Facebook account named "Chung Le" left an insensitive comment that caused outrage: "It would be great if a few soldiers sacrificed their lives for the country to catch criminals every month." Immediately after discovering this negative information, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police urgently deployed professional measures to verify the identity of the owner of the Facebook account "Chung Le".
Through the investigation, the authorities identified the owner of the above account as L.D.C (born in 1987, residing in Khe Mo commune, Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province).
Immediately, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention summoned L.D.C to the police headquarters for questioning.
At the investigation agency, L.D.C admitted all of his wrongdoings. The subject confessed that he had arbitrarily commented on the above content without verifying it, causing negative impacts on public opinion and insulting the noble sacrifices of the People's Public Security force. L.D.C's provocative and inhumane comments have been strongly criticized by the online community.
