Strictly implementing Directive No. 13 dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, the Economic Security Department of Hung Yen Provincial Police has just coordinated with functional forces to destroy a facility with signs of producing and trading fake cat food under the Catsrang brand - a famous brand from Korea, exclusively imported by Fusion Group LLC in Vietnam.
After a period of close monitoring, on June 13, 2025, the authorities suddenly inspected three locations in an urban area in Van Giang district, Hung Yen province. These locations were directly operated by two subjects, NCT (born in 1997, residing in Da Ton, Gia Lam, Hanoi) and LVT (born in 1993, residing in Hoang Thang, Hoang Hoa, Thanh Hoa).
It is noteworthy that the subjects rented a house in a high-end urban area, taking advantage of the quiet and discreet appearance to operate an "underground factory" specializing in producing fake cat food. During the raid, the authorities seized hundreds of packaged product bags, additional labels and ingredients of unknown origin.
Specifically, at the scene, the police seized:
396 bags of 5kg cat food branded Catsrang showed signs of counterfeiting.
188 20kg bags of raw materials without labels, suspected to be raw food
42 unlabeled ziplock bags of loose cat food
830 sub-labels printed with information of Fusion Group LLC - the official importer
Many machines and tools for production and sales such as bag sealing machines, electronic scales, laptops, 8 smartphones, recording equipment, livestream lights, advertising backdrops...
Selling counterfeit goods "anonymously online"
According to information from the Economic Security Department, the group's activities were organized, professional and very sophisticated. In order to avoid detection, the subjects did not reveal their real identities during the livestream sales sessions, only filmed close-ups of the products, their voices were altered by software, and all background images were blurred or faked.
The group even distributed products through 4 accounts on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, TikTok Shop, and many other accounts and Facebook accounts directly managed by NCT. The delivery of goods was organized like an "industrial chain": changing locations frequently, super-fast packaging, and shipping in secret through express delivery services under the names of individuals.
Police determined that since December 2024, this group began to increase the scale of production, using counterfeit packaging so sophisticated that it was almost impossible to distinguish with the naked eye. Weight, design, color - all were copied from the genuine model. Consumers who do not pay close attention or buy online can easily become victims.
Warning about dangerous consequences of fake pet food
Catsrang is a famous cat food brand originating from Korea, has been present in the Vietnamese market for many years and is trusted by cat owners thanks to its nutritional ingredients suitable for the pet's physical condition. Counterfeiting products not only affects the brand's reputation but also directly affects the health of pets, which are sensitive to food.
Without any safety testing, these counterfeit products may contain poor quality ingredients of unknown origin, which can easily cause digestive disorders, allergies or poisoning in pets, according to veterinary experts.
Expand investigation, strictly handle according to law
The entire case file and exhibits have been handed over by the Economic Security Department to the Investigation Security Department of Hung Yen Provincial Police to continue clarifying the act of producing and trading in counterfeit animal feed - a serious violation of the law on intellectual property, food safety and commercial fraud.
A representative of Hung Yen Provincial Police said that the incident is a warning bell about the increasing counterfeiting of pet consumer products on the internet. Consumers are advised to buy products from official distribution channels, with authentic stamps, clear invoices and be especially wary of products with unusually low prices or unclear origins.
