A large-scale production and trading line of fake cosmetics and mixed creams, up to 12 tons and profiting about 10 billion VND, has just been dismantled by Tay Ninh Provincial Police, causing a stir in public opinion nationwide.
Big haul: Destroyed 12 tons of mixed cream and fake cosmetics
On the evening of June 14, Tay Ninh Provincial Police officially announced that they had successfully destroyed a facility producing and trading fake cosmetics on an extremely "huge" scale in the area. The ringleader was identified as LTMD (born in 1991, residing in Ninh Tho quarter, Ninh Son ward, Tay Ninh city). Currently, the investigation agency is temporarily detaining many related subjects and continuing to expand the investigation, not releasing their full identities to ensure the confidentiality of the case.
However, during the initial investigation, the group admitted that by the time they were discovered, they had sold over 100,000 orders to consumers nationwide, earning about 10 billion VND. The police seized evidence worth an estimated 3.5 billion VND. During the business activities, the subjects did not announce, register product trademarks, or declare and pay taxes to the authorities.
According to information from CAND newspaper, the process of dismantling the ring began when the Police Department investigating crimes of corruption, economy, and smuggling of Tay Ninh Provincial Police discovered that LTMD and NTT (born in 1992, residing in Duong Minh Chau town, Duong Minh Chau district) regularly went on social networks to livestream and sell cosmetics at surprisingly low prices.
The suspicion that D. and T. colluded to produce and trade fake cosmetics prompted the police to set up a special investigation. After verification, the detectives discovered that all the goods were fake, produced and labeled by the group themselves, and from there they decided to "cast the net".
From floating raw materials to 12 tons of harmful finished products
At 11:00 a.m. on June 13, Tay Ninh Provincial Police coordinated with the Provincial Market Management Department to stop and inspect a car with license plate 53S-06xx driven by LVT (residing in Tam Long Hamlet, Tri Binh Commune, Chau Thanh District).
Upon inspection, the authorities discovered that the vehicle was carrying 32 cardboard boxes containing cosmetics (mixed creams), weighing up to 1.2 tons, with absolutely no invoices or documents proving their origin. After a quick investigation, the police determined that the livestream channel owner hired T. to transport the goods to Ho Chi Minh City to deliver to a sales outlet.
Expanding the investigation and checking the warehouse in Ninh Son ward (Tay Ninh city), the police discovered workers diligently producing cosmetics. At the scene, the authorities seized a large amount of raw materials and finished products including: 20 plastic barrels containing chemicals printed with foreign labels, 500kg of solid chemicals, 200kg of finished cream, 100 bottles of various chemicals containing solutions, 8 machines for mixing and blending cosmetic creams, 3 cars and many related books, stamps, and anti-counterfeit labels...
The female leader confessed to the authorities that since 2020, she and her accomplices have begun processing, producing, and trading fake cosmetics. The raw materials used are all flavorings, chemical powders of unknown origin, alum powder, solvents floating on the market... purchased and mixed with rudimentary machinery, not ensuring hygiene or medical standards.
What is alarming is that these "mixed cream" products are sold by the network at extremely cheap prices, from only 50,000-100,000 VND/kg, depending on the type. The goods are also delivered to other sources, self-labeled and resold on e-commerce trading floors at much higher prices, from 200,000-650,000 VND/kg, deceiving consumers about the quality and real value.
After expanding the investigation, the task force continued to inspect related cosmetic businesses and seized 13 more types with more than 550 products and many machines, more than 10 tons of unfinished cosmetics, stamp printers, bottles, boxes... of unknown origin. In total, the amount of evidence seized in the entire project was a huge number, confirming the extremely large scale of operation of this line.
