Car collision kills 6 people: Heartbroken bo.y loses mother and younger sibling, transferred to multiple hospitals

On February 21, a traffic collision occurred in Son La, killin.g 6 people. In addition, those injured in the incident are being treated and transferred to other hospitals.

On the morning of February 22, 2025, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital held an emergency consultation via the Telemedicine system with Son La Provincial General Hospital to assess the condition of the people on board the vehicle in the collision between a sleeper bus and a tractor-trailer. The consultation helped determine the optimal treatment plan, and the hospital received patients with serious injuries for further intensive treatment.

Currently, two patients are being treated at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital: PTH (female, 52 years old, Ha Nam): Multiple trauma, traumatic brain injury, broken left leg, broken right arm. The second case is patient N.D.H (male, 45 years old, Son La): Multiple trauma, maxillofacial injury, open fracture of both forearms.

On February 22, it is expected that 3 more patients will be transferred to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital for continued treatment, specifically:

- VGH (male, 9 years old, Son La): Multiple trauma, chest trauma, left hemothorax, left humeral condyle fracture, suspected total head and spleen injury.

LTN (female, 54 years old, Son La): Multiple injuries, grade 2 open fracture of left humerus, chest injury, right shoulder

- NTL (female, 54 years old, Ha Nam): Multiple trauma, chest trauma, lung contusion, pleural effusion, left thigh trauma.

Among the lucky survivors were Ms. Nguyen Thi N. (31 years old), residing in Binh Minh Hamlet, Co Noi Commune, Mai Son District, and her son, Van Minh V. (6 years old). Another son of Ms. N., Van Gia H. (9 years old), was injured.

On the morning of February 22, speaking to VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Anh Thu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Co Noi commune, Mai Son district, said that the mother and her three children had an acciden.t while on their way to a wedding. The collision caused the deat.h of the mother and her young chil.d. The remaining chil.d had a crushed arm and a piece of glass pierced his lung and is being treated.

Ms. Le Hong Nhung (34 years old, living 20m from the scene) witnessed the collision and was still shocked when mentioning Ms. N and her three children. She said: "After the collision happened, I saw a chil.d about 9 years old injured, I took him outside to clean his wounds and get him some clothes to wear. When I asked him, I found out that the chil.d said he still had his mother and younger brother who went with him to Hanoi for the wedding. He burst into tears when he learned that his mother and younger brother had passed away, I felt so sorry for him."

According to witnesses, the strong collision between the two vehicles created a loud noise that woke many people up. At the scene, the heartbreaking screams made witnesses feel heartbroken. "Many people were lying dead in the middle of the road. The passenger bus was deformed, the scene inside was very chaotic. Someone with a broken leg was given first aid right on the bus...", the witnes.s recounted.

According to VTC News, at 11:30 p.m. on February 21, at Km235 100 on National Highway 6, through Sap Vat commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province, a particularly serious traffic collision occurred between a passenger car with license plate 26F-009.XX and a tractor trailer with license plate 36C-095.XX, killin.g 6 people.

Upon receiving information about the collision, the Prime Minister directed to send his warmest regards to the injured and condolences to the relatives and families of the unfortunate victims; at the same time, requested the leaders of Son La province and the police force to go to the scene to direct the handling of the consequences of the collision.

The Prime Minister requested the Chairman of the People's Committee and Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Son La province to urgently direct the provincial agencies and functional units to immediately arrange all medical conditions and medicines to treat the victims, minimize human and property losses of the people; organize visits, support and encourage the victims and families of the unfortunate people in the collision.

The Chairman of Son La province directly chaired a conference with relevant agencies and forces to assess the cause and immediately deploy solutions to overcome existing problems and shortcomings; at the same time, urgently clarify the direct and indirect causes related to the above traffic collision in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction.
