According to information from Hanoi City Police, at around 2:30 p.m. on January 17, VVS's family discovered that Ms. D.T.Nh. (born in 1946, residing in Kim Long Trung village, Hoang Long commune, Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi), VVS's aunt, had died lying on the bed in the living room.

After that, the family continued to discover that Ms. Nh.'s daughter-in-law, Ms. D.TT (born in 1975), and Ms. T.'s two children, including a son (born in 2008) and a daughter (born in 2006), were all dead under the bed in the bedroom next to the living room. The incident was immediately reported by Mr. VVS's family to the Phu Xuyen District Police.

After more than 20 hours of urgent verification and investigation, at about 12:30 p.m. on January 18, 2025, Hanoi City Police, in coordination with the professional departments of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police, arrested the suspect, Mr. V. (born in 1973), the son of Ms. D.T.Nh.

According to Lao Dong newspaper, suspect V. confessed that at around 10am on January 15, V. used a crab pounder to "beat" his daughter, VTH, and hid her body under the bed. At noon, when his 17-year-old son came home, Vuong told him to go to sleep. At around 3pm that same day, Vuong used a hammer to "kill" his son and hid his body under the bed.

In the evening, V.'s wife, Mrs. T (50 years old), came home from work. At around 11pm, V. used a hammer to commit the crime and then continued to hide the body under the bed. At around 1am on January 16, V. let his mother, who had been ill for a long time, "go away". After committing the crime, V. wrote a letter and took medicine to go away but failed. In the afternoon of January 16, V. took a bus from Hanoi to escape to Da Nang, then continued to take a bus from Da Nang to Vung Tau City, hired a motorbike taxi to Lien Tri Pagoda to pray for the deceased.

Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. on January 17, Ms. VTUT (40 years old, in Co Hoang village, Hoang Long commune, Phu Xuyen district, Hanoi) went to her brother V's house and discovered Ms. D.TN (79 years old) dead in the living room. Ms. T immediately called for help from nearby residents. She then continued to check the house and discovered the bodies of her sister-in-law D.TT (50 years old) and her grandchildren VTH (19 years old), VTT (17 years old) under the bed in the bedroom.

Upon receiving the report, given the particularly serious nature of the case, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung - Director of Hanoi City Police and Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police - directly went to the scene, directing the Investigation Police Agency to coordinate with the Criminal Police Department and functional units to organize the scene investigation, investigation, and arrest of the suspect.

Through initial investigation, the Police Investigation Agency determined that Mr. V. fled the scene after committing the crime.
