On the morning of August 13, the Korean online community was abuzz with a series of photos taken at HYBE's headquarters. Specifically, many wreaths were sent and displayed in front of the HYBE building's gate to demand Suga leave BTS.
This is not the first time HYBE headquarters has been filled with wreaths, it was once before. However, the previous event when fans sent wreaths was to protest HYBE, demanding justice for BTS because they were caught up in the company's scandal with Min Hee Jin.
Meanwhile, the wreath sending incident this time was to protest Suga, asking the male singer to leave the group after the recent drunk driving scandal. This is still a b.ig crisis for HYBE in general and BTS in particular.
After the incident, Suga and his management company both said that the vehicle the BTS member used was an electric Kickboard (an electric scooter without a saddle).
However, after the investigation and the CCTV footage, the police said that the vehicle Suga was riding was an electric scooter, like an electric scooter, not an electric scooter as the rapper claimed. From here, many people have said that B.ig Hit Music and Suga lied to downplay the seriousness of the incident.
According to the provisions of the Korean Road Traffic Law, in cases of driving under the influence of alcohol with an alcohol concentration of 0.2% or more, violators can be imprisoned for 2 to 5 years or fined from 10 million to 20 million won.
In a surprising turn of events, ARMY52Hz - one of the largest and most influential BTS fan accounts has decided to shut down following the scandal involving Suga.
ARMY52Hz is one of the most comprehensive fan sites that provides various information about music releases, links to the most popular streaming sites.
Along with the social media account, ARMY52Hz also runs a website where fans can search for BTS song playlists using keywords.
This account tags every BTS song with a keyword and suggests songs that match the keyword you want.
It also has a feature that lets you create playlists in your personal music app based on recommended songs.
If someone happens to hear a BTS song and thinks, âOh, there are more songs like this?â ARMY52Hz can help them because when they go to the site, they search by title and immediately get suggestions for similar songs.
Some fans even recommend the site when asked for BTS song recommendations.
One netizen commented, "A major account that has been working with such dedication posted about the recent Suga incident and as a result, both their website and Twitter account were shut down today (August 13). This situation is definitely a b.ig blow to the overall atmosphere of the fandom."
Other netizens commented:
"Looking at the current situation, it's hard for ordinary people to bear. It's time to stop idolizing and start living a good life. The more you get involved in idol fandom, the worse things get...".
"Thank you so much, ARMY52Hz Team".
"That's what growing up is like."
"ARMY52Hz Team has been criticized a l.ot by fans, even accused of being a company-run account, but you guys have worked very hard. Now leave this place and rest well."
"This result is completely maintained through genuine fandom, but when they leave with their mental health failing, people say 'smart people should leave fandom early' instead of just thanking them.
"ARMY52Hz Team has been through a l.ot, facing all kinds of online harassment and plagiarism...".
"Thank you for everything during this time."
"Thank you so much, ARMY52Hz Team. You worked so hard."
"Other fandoms took inspiration from what ARMY52Hz did, even copying their blogs and sources."
"They must have been very disappointed; that's a normal reaction."
Also related to the incident, a civil complaint was filed requesting an investigation into Suga's military service status following a drunk driving controversy.
On August 12, the Seoul Regional Military Manpower Administration confirmed that it had received a civil complaint from an individual identified as "A", requesting a thorough investigation into Suga's military service management status as a social service worker.
The petitioner also cited specific provisions of the Military Service Act and the Social Work Service Management Regulations, calling on the authorities to thoroughly investigate Suga's service management status and take strict measures if any illegal activities are discovered.
