On the evening of August 7, the first screening of the movie BORN PINK - BLACKPINK was officially premiered in Vietnam. Since the opening of ticket sales, a series of cinemas in provinces and cities have recorded "huge" purchasing power from fans.
In particular, many theaters have recorded a sold-out status when there are no more empty seats. In particular, throughout more than 90 minutes, My Dinh Stadium - where the 2 nights of the BORN PINK concert took place also appeared continuously in BLACKPINK's movies.
Specifically, in the movie BORN PINK, the image of My Dinh stadium with fireworks in the sky has appeared 6 times stretching for the whole 90 minutes. First of all, the intro to the opening of the concert film and appeared in both the songs BOOMBAYAH and As If It's Your Last. The image of the stadium with a capacity of up to 40,000 spectators and the fireworks display made the international fan community jealous once again, making BLACKPINK fans proud.
However, the image of BLACKPINK on stage in Vietnam not appearing in the movie BORN PINK also made fans regret. In the movie BORN PINK, in Southeast Asia, only the stadium in Bangkok, Thailand appears on the big screen. In addition, YG used up to 90% of BLACKPINK's image at the encore stage in Seoul, South Korea. The rest are some images in France, Los Angeles (USA), New Jersey (USA),...
However, the fact that My Dinh Stadium "arrogantly" appeared in the movie BORN PINK up to 6 times is enough to see how YG as well as BLACKPINK favor Vietnam and Vietnamese BLINKs.
Debuting in the summer of 2016, the four-member group has attracted a lot of attention as a YG Entertainment girl group, seven years after 2NE1. BlackPink has achieved incredible milestones along the way.
To celebrate their anniversary, the group released the concert film Blackpink World Tour [Born Pink] In Cinemas from July 31. The film brought the group's last year's concert to the screen. The group traveled to 34 different countries in about 66 concerts in front of more than 1.8 million fans, becoming the K-pop girl group with the largest audience on a world tour.
Pop culture critic Kim Do Heon said that BlackPink has changed the perception of K-pop artists in the global music market.
"In the past, when K-pop groups entered the global music market, they were considered competitors who were trying to compete with their music... But BlackPink has attracted attention, showing an image and appearance worthy of the reputation of pop stars.
"They have created the image that many people want, on par with Western pop stars, which makes them remarkable," he said.
Releasing a series of hit songs, BlackPink has built its career with many records. Recently, the group reached 13 billion streams on Spotify - the world's leading streaming music platform. The group's most played songs are How You Like That, Kill This Love, Pink Venom, DDU-DU DDU-DU, and Shut Down â a total of 4 billion listens.
Last year, the group once again made history by becoming the first Asian artist to perform at Coachella Valley, one of the largest music festivals in the United States and the first K-pop artist to perform at the UK's major festival, Hyde Park Collection.
"With the unique image and personality of each member, as well as the confident attitude shown in music, the group has built a successful career, crossing the boundaries of the group to become its own brand," said critic Kim.
The members pursued solo careers, starting with Jennie in 2018 with the song Solo. Rosé and Lisa soloed in 2021 with On The Ground and LALISA, respectively, setting new records.
Jisoo released her solo album ME last year, becoming the K-pop female solo artist to sell more than a million copies of the album in its first week of release.
In 2023, the members renewed their contracts with management company YG for group activities, while confirming their breakup to separate. Jennie was the first person to start her own label, Odd Atelier, in December last year. Lisa and Jisoo followed with their own companies called Lloud and BLISSOO, respectively, while Rosé signed with The Black Label, which is under the management of Teddy - BlackPink's "gut" producer.
The four girls continue to make headlines with their upcoming projects. Jisoo is expected to rise in the role of an actor. She starred in the zombie-themed film, Newtopia.
YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk revealed his plan, reaffirming BlackPink's commitment to group activities:
"Many artists will return in 2025. This will be the year that marks the beginning of BlackPink's comeback and world tour."
