Ever since the conflict between Newjeans' "mother" - CEO Min Hee Jin of ADOR and HYBE emerged, many Kpop fans, especially fans of the 5 girls, have been worried about the future of NewJeans.
Recently, many netizens suspected that the company was trying to "erase" Newjeans. Netizens accused HYBE of "Media-play" (taking advantage of the media to attract the attention of the audience) related to Newjeans and other music groups. Since then, a discussion has taken place showing that HYBE is trying to "erase" the influence of Newjeans.
According to Koreaboo, on June 9, it was announced that HYBE would be partnering with The Grammy Museum to hold a special exhibition of its artists. "HYBE: We Believe in Music, A Grammy Museum Exhibit" is one of the museum's largest exhibits to date. Here, the products of artists under HYBE will be displayed.
Michael Sticka, President/CEO of the GRAMMY Museum said:
"HYBE and their artists represent the present and future of the global music scene, and our goal with this exhibition is to increase appreciation and respect for creators and performers. HYBE has contributed to creating a new playground, inspiring fandoms regardless of age, gender, geography and more. The GRAMMY Museum is excited to become a space where fans can express their love for K-pop and feel closer to their favorite idols."
The announcement comes with a list image showing the artists who will be participating in the exhibition, including the latest group KATSEYE. However, what caught the attention of Kpop fans was that NewJeans was not listed on this list. Many reactions expressed disappointment with this action, considering this as evidence that HYBE continues to "estrange" NewJeans.
It is known that this is not the first time the corporation has done so, previously kpop fans have also noticed evidence that HYBE "estranged" NewJeans in the midst of a scandal with Min HeeJin.
Specifically, when HYBE finalized the full line-up for the Weverse Con Festival 2024 event taking place in June. This is an annual music festival, held on a large scale to bring a unique and attractive experience for fans to connect with idols. Weverse Con Festival will always feature HYBE-affiliated groups.
The event attracted great attention with the presence of famous names under HYBE such as SEVENTEEN, LE SSERAFIM, TXT, ENHYPEN, ILLIT, fromis_9, TWS... In addition, there are 10CM, Kwon Eunbi and the boy band AI Plave. However, the focus of public opinion fell on the absence of NewJeans from the list of performers. There are many rumors that HYBE Group is "abandoning" Newjeans because it is on the side of Min Hee Jin.
All artists affiliated with HYBE Labels, except BTS who are on military service, are participating in the Weverse Con Festival 2024. The absence of NewJeans - a group that debuted under the leadership of founder Min Hee Jin - has raised many speculations, especially in the sensitive context when HYBE and Min Hee Jin are entangled in a management dispute.
Public opinion is divided into many directions of opinion, however, the majority is still concerned about the future of NewJeans. Since the tension factor stems from the conflicts between ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and HYBE, kpop fans can't help but worry that the 5 girls' scheduled projects may be affected.
As HYBE's most popular girl group, NewJeans is expected to achieve great success. However, fierce internal disputes between Newjeans' "birth parents" are seriously threatening Newjeans, making kpop fans worried about the future of the 5 girls.
