However, when the rain started around 7am this morning at the Saigon Bridge ramp, the road surface became slippery due to dust mixing rainwater into mud for pedestrians who did not control their vehicles at will, leading to a series of motorbikes hitting each other continuously.

Some residents here said that at first, only one motorbike fell on the Saigon bridge ramp (direction Thu Duc City to Binh Thanh district), but soon after, about a dozen motorbikes traveling behind did not dodge each other, causing a continuous collision.

The incident did not cause serious injuries but many people were scratched, and traffic through the area was also locally jammed.

According to CSGT, when participating in traffic in the rain, vehicle drivers face many safety risks, easily leading to traffic accidents, especially for motorcyclists and motorcyclists.

The objective cause of unsafety or risk of traffic accidents when driving vehicles in the rain is due to inadequacies in traffic infrastructure; bad weather leads to limited visibility; it rains slippery roads causing friction between the tires and the road surface to decrease; There are many unexpected obstacles such as rocks, trees, deep water depressions on the road ...

The subjective cause is due to the mentality of being in a hurry, driving fast when it rains; lack of attention, observation; not obeying traffic safety rules when on the road...

To ensure safety when participating in traffic under the changing rains and coming into the rainy season, Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Control. HCMC recommends that people when participating in traffic should note:

1. Concentrate on observing and driving at an appropriate speed to ensure safety and comply with instructions of traffic forces on duty on the road.

2. Do not accelerate or overtake, especially at the time when it is about to rain or it is raining a little because it is easy to occur unexpected situations that cause the driver of the vehicle not to handle it in time.

3. Observe signs, stop vehicles at the right places, do not stop, avoid rain, wear raincoats ... in places where it is difficult to observe or where there are large trees, large signs, underpasses.

4. In flooded places, drivers need to pay attention when slowing down, observe carefully and watch out for other vehicles to avoid puddles without paying attention, prone to accidents.

5. When heavy rains occur, it is necessary to keep up with information about deep flood points, actively choose appropriate paths to avoid entering flooded points prone to engine stalls, causing traffic damage and traffic jams.

6. It is necessary to bring a raincoat when traveling. Choose the right raincoat, avoid too wide a raincoat that can block the wind.

7. Do not cover the steering wheel with a bat-wing raincoat or pass the light cluster to avoid strong winds that may cause the raincoat flap to fly upwards to obscure the view. For the rear raincoat sleeper, it is necessary to line the saddle to sit, avoiding the raincoat sleeper being caught in the wheel causing a very dangerous accident.

8. It is recommended to wear a helmet with a shield to limit rainwater splashing on the face and eyes.

9. When circulating in the rain need to go slowly, turn on fog lamps or lights.
