Mong Tuyen: One-time Cai Luong beauty, U80 young and beautiful, has a "chas.e", does yoga every day

Successful on the art stage with her distinctive voice and charming acting, but her married life was not smooth, having gone through 3 divorces and is currently "enjoying" single life.

Artist Mong Tuyen’s real name is Huynh Thi Kim Loan, born in 1947 in a poor family with many siblings in Can Tho. Since childhood, she said she loved listening to vọng cổ songs, so she often sang lullabies to help her parents.

When she was 6 years old, a musician named Ba Cu from Tan Quoi (Vinh Long province) came to visit the village, heard her singing lullabies and invited her to learn to sing. She studied singing for 2 years, then her father, Mr. Huynh Huong Vi, founded the Kim Loan Ancient Music Band, which often performed in the new ancient music program at Ninh Kieu wharf. At that time, female artist Dieu Hien saw Mong Tuyen singing in the Don ca tai tu show at Ninh Kieu wharf, introduced her to the producer Bay Cao, and suggested inviting her to join the troupe.

According to Mong Tuyen, her first role on the Hoa Sen stage was Huyen in the play "The Market One Rainy Night", then the role of Huyen Huong in the play "The Birth of a Daoist Chil.d". Thanks to her charming beauty and her narrative voice, she quickly made a name for herself on stage.

At the end of 1962, Mong Tuyen returned to sing for Phuong Nam theater troupe at Nguyen Van Hao theater, in the role of Phuong Loan, in the play "Half a Life of Revenge". At that time, Thanh Minh Thanh Nga troupe performed regularly at Hung Dao theater, two playwrights Nguyen Phuong and Kien Giang went to Nguyen Van Hao theater to watch and discover the potential of a young stage star. They asked the producer Tho to invite the artist to join Thanh Minh Thanh Nga troupe.

The biggest turning point was in 1963, when the Thanh Minh Thanh Nga troupe opened the play "Forever Spring" by Nguyen Phuong and Kien Giang, in which she played the role of the mountain gir.l Mong Tuyen alongside Meritorious Artist Thanh Nga. Immediately, she was praised by the theater journalists of that time with the name "Kim Loan Mong Tuyen".

From then on, Mong Tuyen revealed that her father used this character's name as his daughter's stage name until later. Also in 1963, Mong Tuyen received the prestigious Thanh Tam awar.d (at the same time as People's Artist Diep Lang, Meritorious Artist Bach Tuyet, Truong Anh Loan, Tan Tai, Thanh Tu) for her role as dancer Thu Lan in the play Phu Tu Tong Tu.

After 1975, Mong Tuyen also shared her main singing position for the Truc Giang, Phuoc Chung, Da Ly Huong - Mong Tuyen troupes... After artist Thanh Nga passed away, she sang in place of Queen Mother Duong Van Nga at Thanh Nga troupe and was also very successful. She also won a gold medal at the National Theater Festival with the play "Darkness and Light"...

Despite her great success in her career, Mong Tuyen had a troubled personal life with three husbands. Talented, beautiful, and famous, she was sought after and pursued by many people. At the ag.e of 20, she married her first husband - a rich man, but the marriage did not come from love but out of gratitude to her family.

However, Mong Tuyen's marriage only lasted 6 years. She was passionate about the stage, constantly performing, and her husband was constantly on business trips. When they divorce.d, she decided to leave with nothing.

While single, she continued to receive thousands of courtship requests but she refused them all. It was not until she was 39 that she decided to marry for the second time. Her husband was a fan and was infatuated with her.

After getting married, she followed her husband to settle down in France. Mong Tuyen and her husband opened a souvenir shop. They loved each other but then because of the irreconcilable conflict between her husband and her younger brother, she decided to separate.

She and her siblings moved to Australia. In order to settle in the land of kangaroos, she chose to get married for the third time when she was over 60 years old. At first, both were happy, but this was the love affair that made her most tired because her husband had an affair. She broke up with her third husband at the ag.e of 71. After that, she decided to return to Vietnam to live until now.

At the ag.e of nearly 80, although she has no husband or children, Mong Tuyen still maintains an optimistic spirit and loves life. In her eyes, love is always beautiful, but she no longer wants to tie her life to anyone.

Sharing with Thanh Nien newspaper, she said: "I am very happy to always have someone who loves me and wants to be with me. But I don't think I have many more years to live, so I don't dare think about getting married and living together anymore."

In her old ag.e, she only wished for herself to be healthy and free of illness so as not to bother anyone until the day she passed away, which was happiness. Perhaps because of such an optimistic spirit, the "beautiful reformed opera" of the past still maintains her form and charming beauty, health as well as a fresh spirit at the ag.e of nearly 80.

Recently, on director Khuong Dua's Youtube channel, the female artist shared about her current life.

"I live alone but I'm not sad. I rent this house out as a hotel, and I only use one room to live in. Thanks to that, I have a stable amount of mone.y, which I use to deposit in the bank and earn interest to live and help others."

Every morning, she spends more than 1 hour doing yoga and aerobics to maintain her body's flexibility. The "beautiful reformed opera queen" said that her health is very good, she does not suffer from old ag.e diseases, and her bones and joints rarely ache. According to the artist, the secret comes from her always focusing on her mental health, exercising diligently every day and eating in moderation.

"I eat one main meal at noon, and in the morning and evening I only drink milk and eat fruit. I love this life very much, always happy, optimistic, and not angry with anyone.

Because I live alone and have no children, I have also prepared for my old ag.e. I have long made a will to donate my body to medicine. I enjoy life, look at everything very positively, so every day that passes I feel happy," she shared.

To ease her longing for her job, she accepts singing in charity shows, serving audiences including lonely elderly people in pagodas, orphans in charity shelters, and exchange programs with teenagers who are being taught vocational skills at continuing education centers.
