Artist Xuan Nghia is known as a versatile artist of the Army Cheo Theater but is also "Xuan Hinh's younger brother with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel". In his personal life, he and his ex-wife have divorced but still maintain a close relationship.
Cheo artist Xuan Nghia, born in 1977, currently works at the Army Cheo Theater with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is the youngest brother of the famous comedian in the North - Xuan Hinh.
Born into a family of 7 siblings, Xuan Nghia resembles Xuan Hinh from appearance to voice, is as talented as his brother and shares the same passion for singing cheo.
After graduating from high school, Xuan Nghia majored in electrical engineering but dropped out after a while to pursue the art of Cheo. He enrolled in Cheo at the Military University of Culture and Arts.
Xuan Nghia is probably one of the few artists who pursue this art form and can make a living from it right after graduating from school. Of course, in those early days, Xuan Nghia was guided by his famous brother Xuan Hinh.
Xuan Nghia has been in the profession since 1998. He has the ability to transform into many types of roles from young to old, cross-dressing, drunk, villain. After 27 years of working, Xuan Nghia has won 2 gold medals and 8 silver medals at national and military professional art competitions.
Talking about his early days in the profession, the male artist said that he felt sad when the show organizer invited him but wrote down his brother's name. That was also the reason why later, wherever Xuan Nghia went, he rarely introduced himself as Xuan Hinh's younger brother. However, this unintentionally caused him to be entangled in rumors of discord with his brother.
Xuan Nghia shared: "My family has 7 siblings, I am the youngest. In the family, everyone is proud and honored to be Xuan Hinh's younger brother. Since childhood, Xuan Hinh has taken care of us on behalf of our parents. He taught us very strictly and strictly, so everyone respected and listened to him.
Before, whenever someone compared me to Mr. Xuan Hinh, I felt a lot of pressure! He is a meticulous, serious and perfectionist person in his work. Not only in art but also in daily work. As for me, I am sometimes a bit flighty, careless, easy-going... Before, Mr. Xuan Hinh used to "correct" me a lot! He wanted me to always try my best to not disappoint the audience and to be disciplined with myself. Now he doesn't remind or correct me as much because he sees that I have become more mature.
The biggest pressure for me is that even though I have tried to shape an artistic style, a unique path, people still say that I imitate Xuan Hinh. Many people even mistake me because they think I resemble my brother from appearance to voice and gestures. Sometimes I feel very sad because many products I create from start to finish, from script to staging, performance... but when released, the audience "praises" me for imitating. But the sadness is only fleeting, I still feel happy, being like him is enough (laughs)".
Not only supporting him on his artistic path, Xuan Hinh was also the one who raised Xuan Nghia, helped him overcome many ups and downs in life, and even "shouldered all the debt" for him when he failed as a show producer.
The male artist once affirmed in Dan Viet newspaper: "The old people used to say: The power of the elder brother is the father's power. When my parents passed away, it was Xuan Hinh who took care of my siblings. What Xuan Hinh did for my parents and siblings, I couldn't do even if I wanted to."
Therefore, in the male artist's heart, his brother Xuan Hinh is not only the oldest brother in the family but also an idol, an idol that he tries to learn from every day. Xuan Nghia affirmed that he does not feel hurt when being compared and less famous than his brother.
Regarding his personal life, Xuan Nghia was once married to a colleague at the Army Cheo Theater. They have a son together, currently in 6th grade. The marriage lasted 10 years and then broke up. Currently, his son lives with his mother while Xuan Nghia has been single for nearly 10 years.
After the divorc.e, the two still maintain a close relationship. Occasionally, the three of them go out to eat and play together. Although the son lives with his mother, the male artist still takes him to school every day.
"After breaking up with my ex-wife, we still treat each other like two close friends, sharing and supporting each other to take care of our son. It's okay, when the word love is gone, the words of affection and loyalty still remain. Especially for couples who have children together, we reserve them for our children," Xuan Nghia confided to VTC News.
Talking about his single life at the ag.e of U50, Xuan Hinh's younger brother said that sometimes he feels sad and hurt, but the time has not come yet so he can only focus on work.
"I often joke with my friends, "If you eat crooked food, if you eat straight food, eat straight food" (laughs). I just say that for fun, but I just live calmly, there's no need to rush. I have a son with my ex-wife and after 10 years of separation, we still maintain a good relationship. I still stay close to my son and discuss with his mother how to raise him in the best conditions. I believe that if you can't give your chil.d a complete family, don't let him feel sad.
Remarrying sooner or later is a matter of fate. At this ag.e, halfway through my life, I feel that it is slow and steady. I now do not demand a perfect 10 from my wife, but rather hope to find a true companion. Marriage is a journey to build happiness and spouses are the ones who accompany me on that journey," he confided.
Recently, talking to Dan Tri newspaper about the criteria for choosing a life partner, he said: "I don't have any criteria, as long as we are compatible, love each other, and care for each other, that's enough."
Regarding letting his son follow in his footsteps, the male artist frankly said: "Up until now, I have always supported my son in every decision. Whatever he wants, I will fulfill it. Of course, he is also conscious and does not demand anything excessive. If in the future he has talent and is truly passionate about art, I will be a solid support for him.
If you can follow Uncle Xuan Hinh's path, it's great because not everyone can do what he does. In addition to effort, you also need talent and destiny. Whatever you follow, whoever you follow is fine... as long as you truly find joy, happiness and develop your strengths. Doing art is not easy, but once you love it, it's very difficult to give up."
