Ly Hai, whose real name is Nguyen Van Hai, was born on September 28, 1968 in Chau Thanh district, Dinh Tuong province (now My Tho city, Tien Giang province). He is one of Vietnam's multi-talented artists, known for his roles as a singer, actor, director, screenwriter and film producer.

Ly Hai's artistic journey began in 1993, when he began his singing career. During his studies, Ly Hai had the opportunity to get acquainted with singing through participating in the school's shock troops and was introduced to it by director Xuan Phuoc.
