Ly Hai's performing style is to present songs of the pop music genre, Chinese music with Vietnamese lyrics with simple melodies and lyrics. Therefore, he has been dubbed "Popular Music Star". This is further reinforced by his success in the following music albums.
Ly Hai is the youngest in a family of 9 siblings. Since high school, he has participated in many school cultural activities. In grade 11, he registered for and was admitted to the drama acting class organized by the School of Stage Arts 2 in My Tho. In 1987, he moved to Ho Chi Minh City to study at the school. In addition to his love of music, Ly Hai is also passionate about collecting cars and speed. However, in 2005, he was detained in the United States for speeding and driving without a license. After a long time, Ly Hai had to pay a significant fine to resolve this case.
In 2009, Ly Hai was ready to marry his girlfriend, Tran Minh Ha - a partner and film producer. However, the wedding plan was postponed until 2010 because Minh Ha had to go to the UK to study at a law university. Finally, in 2010, the two held a grand wedding at Ly Hai's private home in My Tho city, Tien Giang province.
In 2011, Ly Hai and Minh Ha's family welcomed a new member, a boy named Nguyen Hao Nhien. Not stopping there, the couple continued to expand their family by giving birth to a daughter in 2013, Nguyen Ha Hai My, and two more children after that.
In 2015, Ly Hai officially debuted as a director and producer of his first film called L.Flip Face. Ly Hai's first foray into the big screen was enthusiastically supported by the public with a revenue of 72 billion VND, opening up initial success for his new title: director.
The following 4 consecutive films of L.Flip Face also had increasing revenue over time: L.Flip Face: Film Studio - 80 billion VND, L.Flip Face: Three Disabled Guys - 85 billion VND, L.Flip Face: House with Guests - 120 billion VND and the action blockbuster L.Flip Face: 48H - more than 150 billion VND.
After 5 successful films, L.Flip Face was officially recognized as the first film series with the highest revenue growth rate. L.Flip Face became a million-dollar film brand of Ly Hai - Minh Ha: the couple always worked together as directors - producers of works with top revenue in the domestic film market.
Ly Hai's journey from being considered an "amateur" director to owning a million-dollar film brand took 8 years, also opening up the trend of making branded films (franchise) on the big screen.
One of the reasons for the success of Ly Hai and the film brand L.Flip Face is considered to be due to his "big play" spirit, ready to break the limits. Ly Hai once caused a shock when he sacrificed his car, then added 4 more for the following films. And even built and destroyed a windmill, a village... to serve the film's setting, then destroyed it according to the script in each different part.

Through each part of the film L.Flip Face, the audience clearly feels Ly Hai's "improvement" in the role of director, screenwriter, and his quality-oriented filmmaking mindset.
In addition, Ly Hai is also known as a director rich in emotions, with a spirit of origin when he skillfully brings famous landmarks of the country to the screen. In the latest film: The Fateful Ticket, this director born in 1968 will make an impression when restoring a traditional craft village as the main setting.
He also shared that he always sets himself challenges, renews himself and does not allow himself to repeat himself in the next works.
