Hua Vi Van was born in 1979 in Ho Chi Minh City. His parents both came from wealthy families, but after getting married, they did not receive financial support from either side of the family. Therefore, Hua Vi Van's father helped his grandfather sell goods from morning to night while his mother opened a small restaurant.

Since his parents were busy making a living, from the time Hua Vi Van was 8 or 9 years old, he was assigned to take care of his 2-year-old brother until he started elementary school. After school, Hua Vi Van fed, changed, bathed, and put him to sleep, while also studying and playing with him.
