Linh Tam: Cai luong artist's salary is calculated in gold, U70 lives comfortably in a 40 billion house

Linh Tam was born in 1962 in An Giang, the adopted son of cai luong artist Anh Loan. He was introduced to music at the ag.e of 7. When he was older, he was invited to perform in many provincial cai luong troupes.

In 1982, Linh Tam and Cam Thu became the most popular couple in the cai luong market at that time. At the peak of her career, Linh Tam's salary for one night's performance was about 5 taels of gold.

"For me, singing for 1 tael of gold a night is not possible, but 5 taels of gold is possible. I was lucky to be born in a period when Cai Luong was in great demand among the people, so everyone came to watch and admired it immensely," the male artist shared in Thanh Nien newspaper.

When domestic cải lương declined, Linh Tam immigrated to the US and became a prominent face of cải lương in the overseas market.

However, according to the male artist, his life overseas is very simple. He told Vietnamnet: "Looking at me like that, I live a very peaceful life and do not compete. Although my material life is not abundant, it is not too lacking either."

In the US, Linh Tam set up his own recording studio at home, practiced his voice every day, honed his skills and performed for overseas Vietnamese. Linh Tam confided that the thing he regrets most in his career is being away from his audience for too long.

For the past 15 years, he has chosen to settle in the US with his family. Life is stable, but the male artist regrets leaving the domestic stage.

In recent years, Linh Tam has frequently returned to Vietnam. Recently, he also bought a house with two frontages, located right at the intersection of three major roads in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. The house is valued at about 40 billion VND.

Artist Linh Tam's 4-storey house is newly built, so it looks very spacious and bright. Inside the house, the interior is completely renovated in a neoclassical, modern style.

Previously, artist Linh Tam had another apartment also in the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

However, when asked, the former cai luong star modestly shared with Thanh Nien newspaper: "In general, the house is not very grand, just enough for me to live comfortably. I have to save up and save up to buy it."

In their personal lives, the couple Linh Tam and Cam Thu have two children together. The eldest son Linh Ty is currently an actor. Thu Tam's daughter is a businesswoman. After nearly 30 years together, they broke up. Currently, both have a new, happy life with their other half. After marriage, both consider each other as close friends and always have beautiful words to say about each other.

Linh Tam is currently married for the second time to a woman from the West but living in the US. Talking about this marriage, the cai luong star said that it was because of the desire to find a support in a foreign land that the two gradually developed feelings and decided to build a family together.

In his second marriage, Linh Tam has two daughters. Notably, the male artist is happy that his children get along well and love each other despite having the same father but different mothers.

Currently, at the ag.e of 63, artist Linh Tam still maintains her health and singing voice. Linh Tam expressed her desire to continue her career.

He said that the salary is not important to him, just being able to sing and meet the audience is enough to make him happy. He also frankly said that he only does not sing at funerals, but he accepts any invitation to parties.

He confided: "Artists now don't need a salary to act in movies, they just need to sing and reach out to the audience in any form. The same is true for Linh Tam now. It's not like I'll leave it alone - artist Linh Tam specializes in singing at weddings. Now, if someone invites me to sing, I'm very happy, if someone invites me to eat, I'm very happy."

Recently, artist Linh Tam attended the premiere of the film "Ken ca chong" by Meritorious Artist Ngoc Huyen.

During the film's premiere, director Khuong Dua asked artist Linh Tam to invest in making her own film like artist Ngoc Huyen, but at a cost of up to 1 billion VND per episode.

He said: "Now Linh Tam makes a movie for 1 billion, spending 1 billion is fine, just for fun."

Youtuber Dung Dang Dung De heard that and exclaimed: "People have houses worth millions of dollars but they can't spend 1 billion to make an episode like that."

However, artist Linh Tam affirmed: "For me, 1 billion is not a problem. The problem is where the billions are, where did it all go?"

Youtuber Dung Dang Dung De shared: "Mr. Linh Tam poured all his billions into the house, everyone knows how many millions of dollars the house he just bought is worth."
