Hai Phong: Winmart employee was pepper sprayed, mone.y tray robbed, what did the suspect say?

A daring robbery recently occurred at the Winmart store in Vi Ha village, Tan Minh commune. A young man pretended to ask to buy something, then suddenly sprayed pepper spray in the employee's face, took the tray of mone.y and ran away.

On March 25, Tan Minh Commune Police, Tien Lang District (Hai Phong City) handed over Ngo Van Quang (born in 1992, residing in Tran Thanh Ngo Ward, Kien An District, Hai Phong City), the suspect who had just committed a daring robbery at Winmart store (Vi Ha Village, Tan Minh Commune), to the Criminal Police Department of Hai Phong City Police for investigation and handling according to regulations.

Previously, at around 9:42 p.m. on March 24, at the Winmart store in Khoi Vi Ha village, a young man came to buy something. When paying, he suddenly used pepper spray in the sales clerk's face, then pulled out the cash tray and ran away.

Upon receiving the news, the entire Tan Minh Commune Police force promptly deployed to the scene, coordinated with the local people to surround and arrest the suspect who caused the robbery. The seized evidence included a motorbike with license plate 16L4-62xx and a pepper spray can. At the police station, the suspect confessed to being Ngo Van Quang (born in 1992, residing in Tran Thanh Ngo Ward, Kien An District, Hai Phong City).

Also today, Bac Lieu Provincial Police conducted a crime scene investigation, urgently investigating to clarify the incident where the four wheels of a 5-seat electric car owned by a local citizen disappeared while parked on the sidewalk on Tran Huynh Street, Ward 7, Bac Lieu City.

Accordingly, on the morning of March 25, the owner of a 5-seat electric car (without a license plate) was surprised to see that his car parked on the sidewalk of Tran Huynh Street (in front of Phung Ngoc Liem Children's House), opposite Coop Bac Lieu supermarket, no longer had 4 wheels.

Initial information, this car belongs to Mr. U., a technology taxi driver in Bac Lieu. Mr. U. just bought this Vinfast car less than a month ago, intending to use it as a taxi.

Because Mr. U.'s family had work, on the evening of March 24, he moved his car from Vo Thi Sau Street (Ward 3, Bac Lieu City) to the area in front of Phung Ngoc Liem Children's House (Ward 7, Bac Lieu City) to temporarily park. By the morning of March 25, the car had had all four wheels stolen.

Prison sentence for robbery

Anyone who commits an act of robbing another person's property will be criminally prosecuted for the crime of robbery under Article 168 of the Penal Code as follows:

"Article 168. Crime of robbery

1. Anyone who uses force, threatens to use force immediately or commits other acts that cause the attacked person to be unable to resist in order to appropriate property shall be sentenced to imprisonment from 03 years to 10 years.

2. Committing a crime in one of the following cases shall be punishable by imprisonment from 07 years to 15 years:

a) Organized;

b) Professional in nature;

c) Causing injury or damage to the health of another person with a bodily injury rate of 11% to 30%;

d) Use of weapons, means or other dangerous tricks;

d) Appropriating property worth from VND 50,000,000 to under VND 200,000,000;

e) Committing a crime against a person under 16 years of ag.e, a woman known to be pregnant, an elderly person or a person incapable of self-defense;

g) Adversely affecting social security, order and safety;

h) Dangerous recidivism.

3. Committing a crime in one of the following cases shall be punishable by imprisonment from 12 to 20 years:

a) Appropriating property worth from VND 200,000,000 to under VND 500,000,000;

b) Causing injury or damage to the health of another person with a bodily injury rate of 31% to 60%;

c) Taking advantage of natural disasters and epidemics.

4. Committing a crime in one of the following cases shall be punishable by imprisonment from 18 to 20 years or life imprisonment:

a) Appropriation of property worth VND 500,000,000 or more;

b) Causing injury or damage to the health of 01 person with a body injury rate of 61% or more or causing injury or damage to the health of 02 or more people with a body injury rate of 31% or more for each person;

c) Causing deat.h;

d) Taking advantage of war and emergency situations.

5. A person who prepares to commit this crime shall be sentenced to imprisonment from 01 year to 05 years.

6. The offender may also be fined from VND 10,000,000 to VND 100,000,000, placed on probation, banned from residence from 01 year to 05 years, or have part or all of his/her property confiscated."
