Social media was stirred by the information that a father and son in Nghe An were rowing SUP to relax when they unfortunately met with an accident and floated in the middle of the sea for 13 hours. Despite the dangerous situation, the two kept calm and returned safely.
Accordingly, the survival story of Mr. Tung's father and son, Phuong Anh's grandson in Truong Vinh ward, Nghe An attracted the attention of the whole country.
On the afternoon of July 30, Mr. Tung and his daughter went to Xuan Thanh beach (Ha Tinh) together to paddle SUP to relax. At that time, the two were still close to the shore, full of life jackets and SUP with seat belts tied to his feet. However, that seemingly peaceful afternoon suddenly turned into a fierce battle for survival in the middle of the ocean.
The southern wind suddenly rose strongly, dragging waves up to 2 meters high continuously, knocking Phuong Anh away. Mr. Tung immediately rushed after him, but the big waves were getting stronger and stronger, sweeping them both away from the shore, out of control. In just a moment, the land disappeared behind the vicious waves.
Told Nghe An Newspaper, during 13 hours of being washed up in the middle of the sea, Mr. Tung's father and son had no food, all the survival items in the backpack were swept away by the waves. In the vast darkness, in the midst of the waves, they could only hug the SUP, try to stay calm and hope for a miracle.
Fortunately, the thunderstorm suddenly fell, becoming a rare source of water that they could use to hold on. Mr. Tung caught a jellyfish for the father and son to fight hunger overnight.
What makes many people admire is Phuong Anh's extraordinary spirit. Despite being knocked out of the SUP by the waves many times, drinking seawater, shivering in the cold in the dark night, the 6-year-old girl still did not cry or panic. During that time, I and my father resiliently clung to the pillar, maintaining the spirit in the middle of the vast ocean.
In sharing with the press, Mr. Tung confided: " When floating on the sea, I hold my child tightly in one hand, holding SUP in the other. I am afraid that if the waves push strongly, I will lose my daughter in the middle of the sea.
All night at sea, I didn't dare to think much because I was afraid. I keep swimming, whenever I am tired, I rest. When I was floating, I saw a flash of light on the sea, I swam towards that light to find hope for life because I was taught that in the past."
The miracle came at 6:30 a.m. on July 31. At the coordinates of 18.39.8433, more than 30km from the mainland, the transport ship VINASINE 555 (number QN-8425) commanded by Captain Tran Dinh Hai discovered Mr. Tung's father and son floating in the middle of the sea. The ship immediately organized a rescue and brought the two safely on board.

When arriving at the waters of Eye Island, he and the crew found Mr. Tung's father and son waving for help in the sea, so they let the ship return, in the spirit of urgency, the crew approached the father and son.
"When I arrived at the location of the father and son, I let the brothers go down the ladder to the sea to rescue the two people on board. After that, I gave clothes and cooked shrimp noodles to the father and son. At 9 a.m. on the same day, I called the coastal police to report the incident and they sent the boat out to welcome Mr. Tung's father and son back," Mr. Hai recounted.
After handing over the father and son to the functional forces, Mr. Hai's cargo ship continued its journey into Dung Quat.
Meeting their relatives again, Mr. Tung and his daughter couldn't help but burst into emotion. "During the accident, my father and son were saved, like being revived. Thank you very much to the forces for saving the father and son," Mr. Tung choked up.
