The case of Nguyen Van Bao (born in 2009, living in alley 101, Tran Van On street, Tan Son Nhi ward, Ho Chi Minh city) getting into a technology taxi on the morning of June 22, leaving home and then losing contact has received a lot of public attention.
On social networks, many people commented, wondering where he had been for the past week, and wished the male student a safe return.
Regarding the developments of the incident, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Binh (born in 1978, Bao's mother) said that the police are currently coordinating with her family to find Bao.
At noon on June 27, Mrs. Binh's family received a call from an unknown number, saying that Bao was in a house in Vung Tau. The family immediately reported this information to the Tan Son Nhi Ward Police and immediately rented a car to go to the above address to search.
When she arrived in Vung Tau, Ms. Binh also reported to the local police for support. However, when she went to the address of the house as provided by the caller, she realized that she had been scammed. Ms. Binh cried and confided in the newspaper.
The woman added that since her son went missing, Mrs. Binh's family had searched everywhere. Wherever there was information about Bao, the whole family abandoned their business to look for him. Some people were very enthusiastic, calling the family and sending pictures to verify whether it was Bao or not. But there were also many strange numbers calling at night to harass her family, causing her family a lot of distress.
She wanted to tell her son that wherever he was, he should come back to his family, and his parents would not scold him. Mrs. Binh was also very worried that Bao had been taken to Cambodia.
As reported, Bao has just finished 10th grade and is currently on summer vacation. Bao asked his mother to let him work during this time, but Mrs. Binh did not agree.
On the afternoon of June 22, when Mrs. Binh and her husband returned home from work, they did not see Bao at home. Mrs. Binh called and texted her son's phone number and looked for him in many places but could not find him and could not contact him.
Mrs. Binh also asked her son's friends and went to Bao's school to ask, but the teachers also did not know any information about Bao.
Through the neighbor's camera footage, it was shown that at around 9:20 a.m. on June 22, Bao got into a red technology taxi and left. When Ms. Binh contacted the taxi driver, she learned that someone else had booked a car for Bao to go to Tay Ninh area.
"We also went to the house of the driver who took my child. They confirmed that someone booked the car via an app to pick up Bao on the morning of June 22 (not Bao himself) and took Bao to Tay Ninh province," said Ms. Binh.
The driver shared information but could not remember the exact location. "The driver only promised to provide information to the authorities, but when we asked, they refused to answer further," said Ms. Binh.
Ms. Binh's family then went to Tan Son Nhi Ward Police (Tan Phu District) to report Bao's loss of contact, and sent information to Ho Chi Minh City Police via VNeID software.
Mrs. Binh's family also received a phone call from an unknown number. On the phone, she heard her child calling: "Mom, mom", as if being controlled by someone.
Information about the incident surprised and worried many people, not knowing what happened to the 10th grade boy. "Hearing the family's story makes me feel confused. Hopefully Bao is just playing somewhere and will soon return home safely to his parents," netizens commented.
Currently, Tan Son Nhi Ward Police and Ho Chi Minh City Police are coordinating with relevant agencies to urgently search for male student Nguyen Van Bao.
In addition, recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs has received 199 requests for support in rescuing Vietnamese citizens abroad from functional agencies, including 43 cases of Ho Chi Minh City household registration.
Authorities also received 410 Vietnamese people detained by Cambodia for illegal entry and wrong purposes after checking the Venus area (Bavet city, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia).
Ho Chi Minh City police inform people about the methods and tricks of criminals who trick Vietnamese people into going to Cambodia to do "easy, high-paying jobs" to carry out illegal activities.
When the victims "fall into the trap", the subjects will organize for these people to illegally leave the country, mainly to Cambodia at the Moc Bai border gate (Tay Ninh province). These disguised online casino centers are all owned by Chinese people, hiring Vietnamese people as managers and Cambodian people as security guards.
During the "work", the victims will be detained, strictly managed, have their personal phones confiscated, and forced to work. The victims are only allowed to use the phones and electronic devices provided by them to perform tasks aimed at defrauding and appropriating property online.
