Nguyen Tien Dat, after finishing his trip from Dong Thap, had just gotten off the bus to return to Long An ward, Tay Ninh province when he was immediately arrested by detectives who had been lying in ambush earlier.
On the evening of September 24, the Criminal Police Department of Tay Ninh Province Police issued an emergency arrest warrant for Nguyen Tien Dat (26 years old, residing in My An Commune), the mastermind of a serious robbery that occurred in Long An Ward. The case not only shocked public opinion because of the daring nature of the crime but also became tragic when the victim passed away shortly after.
According to information from the investigation agency, Nguyen Tien Dat was arrested by detectives while traveling on a passenger bus, returning from Dong Thap to Long An ward. The capture of the subject took place quickly, just a few days after the case was reported, showing the great effort and determination of the police force in tracking down and handling criminals.
Previously, at around 5:47 p.m. on September 21, a daring robbery occurred in Huong Binh 1 neighborhood, Long An ward, Tay Ninh province. The victim was Ms. NTTT (46 years old), an unfortunate woman with a disability and tuberculosis, who was sitting at a pork and vegetable stall in front of her house looking at her phone. At that time, a man (later identified as Nguyen Tien Dat) drove a motorbike carrying a woman (Thi Truc) close to the stall. Taking advantage of Ms. T.'s lack of vigilance, Thi Truc pretended to ask to buy guava on the stall, then suddenly snatched the victim's mobile phone worth 2.5 million VND. Both subjects quickly escaped from the scene.
The incident happened so quickly that Mrs. T. had no time to react. However, the tragedy did not stop there. At around 9:00 a.m. on September 22, relatives were shocked to discover that Mrs. T. had passed away in her bedroom. Because of the grief and the busyness of the funeral arrangements, the family could only report the robbery to the Long An Ward Police Station the following day.
After receiving the denunciation from the victim's family, Long An Ward Police promptly began the investigation. Through verification, information collection and evidence collection at the scene, the authorities quickly isolated and identified Nguyen Tien Dat (born in 1999, residing in My An commune, Tay Ninh province) and Thi Truc (born in 1993, residing in Hoa Hung commune, An Giang province) as the two subjects who directly committed the act of appropriating Ms. T's property.
Truc had been arrested earlier and at the police station, this subject confessed to the whole incident. Truc's testimony revealed a pre-arranged crime scenario. Accordingly, at around 11am on September 21, Dat drove a motorbike carrying Truc to Long An ward to rent a room. Here, Dat invited Truc to find vulnerable people to take possession of their property. Because she needed money to spend, Truc quickly agreed. Dat was the one who took the initiative to choose the location and plan the mission.
At around 5 p.m. the same day, after checking out, Dat continued to drive Truc around the streets of Long An ward to "hunt for prey". When he discovered Mrs. T. sitting alone at the pork stall, Dat instructed Truc to pretend to buy something to commit the robbery. After stealing the phone, Dat drove Truc to a pawn shop on Nguyen Dinh Chieu street, where they pawned the phone for 300,000 VND. Dat kept all the money, he only gave Truc a phone card worth 20,000 VND and a bottle of soft drink.
The next day, Dat continued to take Truc to another motel to rent. At about 9:00 a.m. on September 23, Dat again suggested that Truc go to Long An General Hospital to steal property, but Truc refused. After that, Dat left and did not contact again. The successful arrest of Nguyen Tien Dat closed the investigation of the case, at the same time showing the determination of Tay Ninh Provincial Police in suppressing crime, bringing safety and justice to the people.
