Captain of Ho Chi Minh City Fire Department 6 relatives are positive for SARS-CoV-2

On June 17, the functional forces have just blocked off the headquarters of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PC07, Ho Chi Minh City Police) at 258 Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Cu Trinh ward (district 1) after an officer was confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Accordingly, Captain NTK (living in An Lac Ward, Binh Tan District) is an officer of the Fire and Rescue Team of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police.

The area 500m away from Captain's house (Nam Long Residential Area, An Lac Ward) has been sealed off since June 8. On the afternoon of June 12, the locality expanded the blockade area, including this police officer's house.

From June 1 to 12, Captain NTK went to work at the office and returned home. In the agency, there was contact with PC07 officers and soldiers. From June 13 to now, Captain K. has stayed at home due to the blockade in the area.

From June 1 to 12, Captain K.'s wife and grandson had contact and bought goods with a grocer and a pork seller near his house. These two people are suspected of having COVID-19 and have been taken to concentrated isolation.

On June 11, Captain K. and his wife showed signs of fever and cough. On June 14, Captain K. and his wife showed signs of losing their sense of smell. Captain K.'s daughter (6 months old) and son (28 months old) also showed signs of fever.

On the evening of June 15, Captain K.'s family was sampled for testing. On the morning of June 17, the authorities announced that Captain K. and 6 family members were positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Upon receiving the information, the PC07 Department activated the epidemic prevention and control work at the highest level, and at the same time reported to the Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department and related units.

PC07 has temporarily blocked the headquarters at 258 Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Cu Trinh ward, district 1. Officers and soldiers are not allowed to leave the headquarters, not contact people coming to work.

In addition, Room PC07 coordinated with the authorities to spray decontamination at the floor with cases of infection. Currently, the authorities are collecting information, a list of close contacts and taking samples for testing according to regulations.

Only from May 18 to the end of June 17, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 1,196 cases of Covid-19 in the community. Although the chain of infection at the Phuc Hung Mission Group has been controlled, many new chains of infection continue to appear in the city with a high number of infected people and the source of infection is unknown.

According to the HCDC, the characteristics of the infection chains in the 4th epidemic are transmission through daily contact at residence, at work. Infection from the residence to the workplace and then from the workplace to the residence creates a cycle of back-and-forth transmission. Therefore, when detecting only cases through screening, when investigating and tracing the infection chains that have been infected for several cycles, the number of infections increases.

In particular, there are infection chains located in alleys, inns, and neighborhoods in a hamlet. This is a place where patients have contact with each other according to the proximity of the village, now becoming a danger that the disease can spread quickly.
