According to Thai Binh province's health sector, the newly announced patient is the son of patient 3537 who was confirmed to have COVID-19 on May 11, 2021. Before that, the man mentioned above went to take care of his father (patient 3537) and was treated in room H910, Department of Internal Medicine and Gerontology - Provincial General Hospital. After the cases in the same treatment room with patient 3537 tested positive, the patient's father and son were transferred to isolation at Thai Binh Lung Hospital.

Immediately after, the patient's specimen was transferred to Thai Binh CDC for confirmatory testing. At Thai Binh CDC, this patient's test result confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Currently, the patient has been transferred to Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital for isolation and treatment.

According to Associate Professor Tran Dac Phu - former Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine, Real-Time PCR test is a test to confirm whether a person is infected with Covid-19 or not. high sensitivity and specificity.

The results of the test depend on many factors. The first is on the course of the disease, ie at what stage of the disease the specimen is taken. For example, if the time of sampling was when the virus was first contracted, the PCR test would still be negative.

If the patient is infected with Covid-19 but the virus has not multiplied enough to give a positive result, it will take a while to test positive.

In addition, there is also the possibility that the patient is infected in the isolation ward. This is just a theory, but it's entirely possible.
