During the fire, Mr. Bui Ngoc Lam (39 years old, son of the landlord) and his son Bui Quang Huy (10 years old) escaped to the roof of the second floor of the neighbor's house. At about 1:23 a.m., the fire was extinguished.

According to the Hanoi City Police, the fire killed 4 people at the scene, including: Mrs. Doan Thi Manh (74 years old, owner), Mrs. Do Mai Huong (37 years old, daughter-in-law of Ms. Manh), Mr. Bui Ngoc Khanh (37 years old, the biological son of Ms. Manh) and nephew Bui Nam Phong (10 years old, son of Mr. Lam); Hung died at the hospital. The fire also injured Mr. Lam and Mr. Huy.

In the morning of the same day, the City People's Committee. Hanoi has sent an express document No. 1170 to the City Police, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs and the People's Committee of Dong Da district on the investigation and handling of the consequences of the fire in Kim Lien ward, Dong Da district.

Mrs. Dam Thi Thanh (neighbor) recounted that the fire happened around 12:40, when she was sleeping when she heard a loud noise. After a while, hearing the shouts of "fire, fire, save me", it was not clear whether people or victims were calling for help, so she quickly called her son to run away.

"Fire the whole house, smoke rose up, spread to motorbikes. It's sad that 5 people died, including 2 young children", Ms. Thanh said.

Another witness said, around 12:30 pm, hearing the voice of father and son, Mr. Bui Ngoc L. (39 years old) and his nephew Bui Quang H. (12 years old) standing on the roof calling for help, people rushed to rescue water and towels. wet.

"When I was lying down watching TV, I heard a loud scream, immediately guessed it was L. because I knew his voice. I threw a towel to L. to block the smoke, and then brought 2 bowls of water," the witness said.

When he was rescued, Mr. L. burned all his limbs, asked "Can you save the house on fire?". People around lied "all saved, just get in the ambulance", unexpectedly 5 people in the family died.

The head of the household is Mrs. Doan Thi M., 74 years old, with two sons, Mr. Bui Ngoc L. and Bui Ngoc K. According to witnesses, Mrs. M.'s family is difficult, since the day her husband died, she has lived a miserable life.

"The family is poor, she will accept whatever she gives to sell junk to earn extra income. We are sad because we can't do anything, the fire is burning," the witness said.

It is known that inside Mrs. M.'s house there are many flammable materials. Neighbors once told the householder to redo the power line to avoid danger.

Mr. Hoang Trong Anh, another witness, said that when he saw Mrs. M's house on fire, he shouted loudly, then called his relatives to break the door. "The fire was not big at first, but then it spread. About 30 minutes later, I heard L. screaming for mom," Anh said.
