From then on, Truong My Lan used SCB as a financial tool, mobilizing capital from organizations and individuals, then used many sophisticated tricks to create false loan documents and falsely increase the value of collateral assets; providing security assets that are not legally sufficient, not registering secured transactions, withdrawing assets of high value and swapping them for assets of lower value than withdrawing SCB money; When SCB disbursed money according to a false plan, defendant Lan directed his subordinates to make a plan to withdraw money, cutting off the cash flow by creating a contract promising to transfer false shares, avoiding detection by the authorities. .

In 10 years, from 2012 to 2022, SCB disbursed more than 2,500 loans to the group of defendants Truong My Lan with a total amount of more than 1 million billion VND, accounting for 93% of the bank's loan amount. By 2022, defendant Lan's group still has 1,284 loans, outstanding debt at SCB of more than 677,000 billion VND (nearly 484,000 billion VND outstanding principal, more than 193,000 billion in interest), in the group that cannot be recovered.

With the above damage, the Procuracy recommended Truong My Lan the highest penalty for property embezzlement, 20 years in prison for bribery, 19 - 20 years in prison for violating regulations on lending activities. of credit institutions. The highest total penalty is death penalty.

Before, during and after the Procuracy proposed the above sentence, this defendant always maintained a calm attitude, and attentively took notes, clearly remembering investment cooperation projects and family assets. myself and Van Thinh Phat Group.

However, during about 40 minutes of speaking her last words, most of the time defendant Truong My Lan could not control her emotions, cried and felt pain for her family's situation when both her husband and nephew were arrested. temporarily detained, the family was torn apart.

Defendant Truong Hue Van (nephew of defendant Lan) also had to exclaim that Truong My Lan, a woman known as a woman without tears and a spirit of steel, was almost heartbroken when she stood before the jury and Please let me escape the death penalty.

Throughout the trial, the presiding judge said he always created maximum conditions for all defendants in the case to overcome the consequences, so many defendants in the case paid additional money to overcome the consequences. Among them, defendant Nguyen Cao Tri Tri paid the most with about 70 billion VND, and defendant Truong Hue Van's husband paid an additional 2 billion VND.

Based on the developments at the trial, the sincerity of the statements and the newly arising extenuating circumstances of the defendants, the representative of the Procuracy changed the proposed sentence for the 22 defendants in the direction of reducing the sentence compared to the original sentence.
